Remington 130 gr. .38 Special

I wonder if that is old machinery left over from the old military contracts ''M-41''. If it was dedicated machinery already set up, selling it to the public for practice ammo makes sense.

The 130 gr FMJ .38 Special as mentioned was the US armed forces issue .38 ammo for decades. Just a bit more then the old .38 Long Colt that the Army deemed unsuitable against the Moors in the Philippines. Which led to the .45 ACP.

I have never bought a box of the 130 FMJ, 38 special ammo but I do have
family members that do not load and have used it for target work and they
said that the price and accuracy was good enough to buy again......

but that was befor the start of 2020.

Slow 110-130 gr bullets are ok in my 2" J frame but do a lot better in a 6" barrel if they have a copper coating.

I always though the Air Force was under gunned with those as a SD load back in the day with the Aluminum 38 revilver but that was their call.

When you are fortunate enough to find 38 Special,
The lighter FMJ loads are usually some of the cheapest.
And they work great in the Lighter J Frame Guns.
I just took a look and had trouble finding any 130 Grain!
Finally found some! Here it is with 125 and the PMC is 132.
These are all, IMO, excellent plinking, casual shooting rounds for most people and most Revolvers, including J Frames.
Like I have posted - when I see it, I buy it!

I've shot a lot of the Federal 130gr FMJ range ammo. I have no chronograph, but the ammo feels "punchy" in all of my .38s, both 2" and 4". More so than the Prvi Partizan 158gr LRN service load equivalent which ideally should be warmer than the 130gr FMJ.

THE PILGRIM makes a great point, buying ammo when he sees it. Before the winter '12-'13 ammo crunch, I would cruise the tables of private individuals at shows who would often have a few older boxes of factory ammo. They'd be happy to unload it for $4-$5 a box rather than carry it home. Them days is gone. :(
