Several years ago I bid on a couple of rifles at an on-line auction. I never heard back from the auction house, but they eventually advised me that I had won both rifles. One was for a 1903A1 NM rifle. SRS was able to confirm that it had been sold by the DCM as an NM and even found the original sales ticket.

The other rifle I bid on and won was an 03A4.

Nice rifle.

I bought a 03A4 at the local gun range that looked NIB a couple of years ago for a friend of mine. Paid $500 for it, one of the guys that worked there had bought it from a retired neighbor and had paid $300 for it. Last year in PA. I picked up a M84 scope in a deal for $200. Mounted it on my friends rifle for him as I got the scope with the correct mount. About the same time I was watching one go for auction on the CMP Auction site. It sold for a bit over $5000. One of these days I will have to go up and shoot it.

Fine rifles. With a bit of common sense you can get remarkable results on the range or in the woods and fields. Expect you will be very pleased with the results of shooting your rifle. FWIW, I have a nice 03-A4 replica that I bought a few years ago. With common Greek HXP M-2 ball ammo it shoots a solid 1.25 MOA as long as you want to pull the trigger. With Winchester SP hunting ammo, it shoots MOA. It is about ideal for hunting deer and hogs. Sincerely. bruce.

Here is one of the 03A4's that sold at the CMP Auction, not quite a year ago.

Anyone who has watched Saving Private Ryan and doesn't want one of these doesn't have an ounce of American Red blood in them.:D. I would think that movie had to have an effect on the price of the 03 A3 sniper rifles. Cooooool gun;)

Thanks, AJ.

I got mine for considerably less.

In the case of the buyers at the CMP Auctions, I believe they think of it in part as a donation towards the shooting programs that CMP puts on. What bothers me is that the rifle was a put together affair. In their write up on the rifle it states that the rings are reproduction. At least what I put together for my friend was all original parts, even the screws..........

I think you are right about the CMP auctions. Things usually go for absolutely top prices at that auctions.

I got mine from an auction house for less than half the CMP auction price.
