Will someone please enlighten me as to the advantage of having a majority of the gunmakers in this country under the control of one parent company is a good idea? Especially if the holding company parent were ever to come under "government supervision?"

I don't own a tin hat, but...I just hope it is just for investment potential.
Oliver Winchester should have thought about buying and consolidating years ago.

Or is this going to end the same way the silver market did when the Hunt brothers tried to corner the market?

The advantage is that you eliminate the competition when you buy them up. The only silver lining is that Steve Feinberg is a hunter and he likes guns (and he’s a Republican). If you were him, wouldn't you be??

Good for Cerberus, bad for gun business in general. Competition is a good thing and, though the present ceo may be one of us, I never saw nobody live forever.

Dang it! That's all we need: Dakota rifles that'll now have those cheap M-700 actions, with bolt handles that may turn purple.

I hope that they don't use impressed checkering on the stocks. Fortunately, even Remington has been above that for the most part in recent years.
