Just wondering - looking for opinions or a comparison of the two. Bodyguards come in a variety of configurations; the RM380 apparently only comes one way. Similar in size and weight so I'm curious if anyone has experience with the new Remington - or maybe it's too new?

We'll see.....

The new Remington RM 380 is, despite Remington's best efforts to say otherwise, mostly a "badge-engineered" Rohrbaugh 380, so you may want to do a Google search to see if users of that model were happy or not.

I can tell you from first hand experience that I did not have a good experience with the S&W Bodyguard 380, nor has anyone that I know who has gotten one and actually shot it.

Save yourself many headaches. If you want a tiny .380, get the Ruger LCP or KLCP, the difference being a stainless slide on the KLCP. If you can live with a slightly larger .380, and it has to be a .380, then get the Glock 42 or the Ruger LC380.

As the size differential is so tiny, I would skip over the .380 entirely, and get a 9mm. In 9mm, I would get a Ruger LC9sPro, the Glock 43, the Walther PPS, or the S&W Shield. For every bad thing you read about how S&W got the Bodyguard 380 wrong, S&W outdid itself on the Shield.

Everything Shawn said! For the tiny gun it's got to be the LCP or the Glock. Got 'em all. Shot 'em all. The LCP is my favorite. The BG is just a strange little gun.

I am well pleased with my RM380. Felt better in my hands than any other small pocket sized gun. Shoots great, no hiccups, always ambi mag release, long DA trigger, aluminum frame, stainless slide, and no other safety, all checks in the plus column for me. + great reviews.

I am very pleased with my BG 380 most people don't like the looong trigger but it is the only trigger I will have for a pocket gun.I also have a gen II LCP that I gave to my wife for it is perfect for carry in the pocketbook. I like the last shot hold open,SS SLIDE AND ROD,second stike capability and more comfort to shoot than a G42 ALL LCP'S,P3AT, and Colt Mustang;) and the sights are more to my liking..

I toy with the idea of a pocket .380 from time to time. I only did it once, a SIG P238, and it was a lemon, a jammamatic, I dumped it and never bought another pocket .380. But I like double action defensive guns way more than single action ones so the new RM380 caught my eye.

I'm still carrying revolvers donchano!!!! :)

I have handled, but not shot, the Bodyguard. I own and carry a RM380. +1 to everything Adk.IBO said. I cannot get it to jam. It points naturally and the little warts of sights are pretty good out to 15 yards once I added red nail polish to the front. If you like striker-fired pistols you will detest the RM380. If you aren't bothered by a long DA pull and like second-strike capability, this might be the ticket.

I started out looking at this for my wife, whose arthritis made working the slide on most pocket .380s a chore. I liked it so well she insisted I buy it.

It has replaced my 642 in my pocket, if not in my heart. Wife stayed with a Brand X .38 snub.

I have a Bodyguard .380 with over 1200 rounds through it. The double action trigger reminds me of my Model 60-1 (a long, firm pull). I love the gun and the features it has that other small guns don't. The sights are superior, the slide locks after the last round, and though I seldom use it - it has a safety. Admittedly, if I were buying again I would get the glock 42(which wasn't out at the time)...not a Ruger LCP. It's simply too punishing to practice with.

Remington has not impressed me lately, so I am reluctant to purchase a gun of theirs.

Can't comment on the Remington.

Shot a bodyguard again today. Belongs to my father in law. Trigger is still awful, and I can shoot most anything. I was actually shooting it well at 10 yds, but WOW did it take effort and concentration!! The trigger is so long, you wind up wrapping your trigger finger Aron's the grip twice I think. It's way too long to the break point. My keltec p11 is way better. That's sad

Long DA pull, hammer and second strike, yep, very much my preference.

Not a big fan of striker fired guns - I might have one but I don't think so. I'd have to really think that through or search my safe.

I got a no laser BG in Feb. 2015 and put over 800 trouble free rounds through it, but it seemed a bit heavy for what it was. Gander Mountain had the LCP on sale for $199 so I picked one up and went to the range the next day. 100 flawless rounds later it's replaced the BG as my EDC. I prefer the LCP b/c it's smaller and lighter while retaining the accuracy & reliability of the BG. The only modification I made to the LCP, just like the BG, was white paint on the front sight.
