Removing Grip Sleeves

I purchased another used semi auto yesterday. It came with a Hogue grip sleeve. The gun is a 12 shot 45. I have smaller hands and would like to remove the sleeve. I would prefer not to destroy the sleeve in case it covers some defect. I see many installation videos but none to remove them. Any suggestions?

I took one off a Glock 43 I bought used. It was a bear. In hindsight maybe a hair dryer ?

I have had good luck gradually warming the grip sleeve with a blow dryer. As the rubber becomes more supple, you should be able to loosen and release one surface at a time. A piece of thin plastic can help to slip under the sleeve and a little soapy water may help as well. Any way you do it, it can be a fairly slow process if you want to avoid damage.

Thanks for suggestions. With a lot of grimacing, whining, and thinking evil thoughts it came off. It was actually easier than some others I've tried. Result is no unseen damage and it fits my hand much better.

I found that an exacto knife did the trick
