I like using Flitz on my blue finish Guns. I think that Ren. Wax has their own web site if you Google it in.
I hope you mean Flitz Waxx Protectant, and not the Flitz Metal Polish. Flitz Metal Polish is an abrasive and not good for blue or nickel guns. It's great for bright stainless steel, and I've seen brushed stainless turned into bright stainless very effectively with Flitz Metal Polish.

I also use Renaissance Wax.

Why use it on the 642? They have that spray on clear coat on them. On a stainless or blued gun, Ren Wax is amazing stuff.
 
The finish on the 642 is well known to wear & flake after a while. My 642 has been pocket carried for four years and still looks brand new thanks to Ren Wax.
