After shooting my 3 Shield Pluses today, I decided to rent a Sig 365. Never tried one, and I wanted to see if they were any better than the Shield. They had the original 365, and the 365 X Macro. Between the choice of the two, I thought I'd try the X Macro....

Only, when they gave it to me, I saw it had a pistol optic mounted on it. I've played with a pistol optics before, but I have never shot a gun with on before. They really aren't my thing. I prefer iron sights. And, I wished it didn't have the optic on it actually. But, oh well...

Anyway, I dry fired it a few times to get the feel of it. It had a green dot Holosun on it. After shooting it, I have to say that I prefer my Shield Plus pistols way more. So, I already have the platform meant for me....

But, I will admit that I didn't get to pay as much attention to the gun itself as I would have liked, because the pistol optic was on it.

Verdict - I prefer my fiber optic sights. I don't care for pistol optics.

Also, one big issue for me with the pistol optic... I have a tremor in my left hand from a childhood injury. Despite that, I've figured out how to shoot with iron sights. I have even posted some of my targets before, so it is obvious I am a pretty good shot. With the pistol optic - the damn dot is moving all over because of my tremor. I didn't like it at all.

I have the same issue with magnified optics on a rifle. I can shoot a 1/2" group at 50 yards with a 1x red dot on a rifle. But give me magnification on a rifle - and I can really see how I shake, and my groups are not nearly as good.

Man's gotta know his limitations :p

What's Wrong with you?
Trying to Jump Ship? HaHa! :D
I went through the SIG thing too, because everyone said they were so good... Just not for me, They did function
Sold the SIGs, Glocks, HKs & Rugers a while back but still have a few OFF BRANDS!

Hahaha, nothing wrong.

Since I run a few gun forums, I post a lot of stories. I have seen a few about that X Macro recently. And, for $5 to rent the gun - I thought, why not....

When I post about the Shield Plus so much, I always get guys who reply about the 365. Thought I would see what all the hoopla is about. No plans to change :)

It’s funny to me that the Sig Macro is about twice the cost of a Shield. The Shield is easier to conceal and the EZ is easier to rack the slide. Oh well.

With lasers and holographic sights it is very easy to start "chasing the dot". The simple fact is that the gun is always moving as the human body isn't capable of being as rigid as some of us think it can be. It's one of the reasons I generally ignore pictures and videos of offhand groups as they tell me about the shooter, not the gun.

I assumed as much
I tried the P365XL & wasn't impressed at all with it
Its frame feels like a toy IMO

I thought I’d go the red dot route also! I’ve bought and sold just about every carry option in the past 20 years! I’ve stuck with the Shields. So I thought why not a Shield OR. So I bought one and bought a Shield SMSc red dot. I knew it was a low profile which meant I can use factory sights. But the entire red dot sight is pretty much a 1/3 of the glass. Can’t raise the red dot any higher. While I do like the thought, find the night sights and the dots there it’s just not my thing. I sold the gun and bought a plain Shield Plus. I’m sure other sights might be the way to go. I’m more a laser guy. So my primary edc is the Shield w/integrated green laser. Hopefully the Shield Plus 2.0 will have the integrated laser.
