I have a pre 25 model 1955 5 screw with the original (I believe Target grips) The screw that holds the grips together is missing. I called S&W and they said they do not carry replacements.
Does anyone know where I could obtain a replacement?
Thank,
Steve

I believe these are the full size target grips so you could post a want ad here on the forum or alternatively, buy a set of grips at a gun show that are beat up[not as expensive] and get the screw from those grips.
Another thought is Brownell's and there's a gun part replacement store [Numrich] : http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ that you could try.
I'm sure others will have some ideas.

You can't find the target stock screws S&W, Numrich, Brownells, or Midway.
I'm still looking for one.

Obsolete gun screws

If this guy does not have it, no one will!

Individual Scope & Gun Screws

I found a #3 x 48 Slotted Fillister head machine screw for a set of I-Frame RB grips. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE including all the "collectors" and gun parts guys could find this particular screw. It took me a month of searching to find this guy, but he had what I needed. The only caveat was that normally the S & W screws are raw steel, and this guys were blued. No biggy, just hit it on he wire wheel for 5 seconds, and the bluing is gone. A quick spritz of clear lacquer to help keep it rust free, and now it looks exactly like the original. Reasonable prices too! You just have to determine the exact number size you need.

FWIW, there is a difference in screw length between the target stocks and regular stocks.

A longer screw is easily cut down and polished into a shorter one. The thread size is key.

Absolutely. But they still have the standard length (shorter) grip screw for the standard stocks available at S&W, Brownells, Midway, etc. (or they have them marked out of stock).
But the longer target stock screws have been discontinued by almost everyone.

Thanks,
I'll follow up on all these leads, and let you know how I made out.

FYI target stock screw measures 0.163" head diameter and is 1.15" long.
