Thanks for the first thread on this, folks! I now understand that the differences between the 39-2 and the 639 is the inertial firing pin safety which the 639 has and the 39 lacks as before that, I didn't have a clue! Having said that, I do like the feature of having a carbon steel slide on a s/s frame. The offset between the two steels looks cool! Beside, I don't plan on carrying this pistol around as of yet. Any comments on this? I've heard a few on this forum say they have such pistols but I've yet to see any pictures attached. Thanks. DW41F.

Don't know about a 39 on a 639, but I learned the hard way that a 639 slide doesn't make nice on another 639. I had an extra 639 adj sight slide that I had Black-T treated, figuring it would be a good swapover. NOT. The sear lever is the issue. Seems they were all individually fitted at the factory and usually do not swap. It did look nice, however:

Wow, I did not know that. Thanks for the info. I just purchas an extra slide from gunbroker for my 39-2. Now I'm a little worry.

The sear release lever - for the hammer drop/safety - is the fitting point when changing slides on 39/59 pistols. The part is inexpensive; filing it is merely an armorer level skill.

Well, I just open the package of the slide I ordered.... the seller sent me an either 2nd gen or 3rd gen 39 series slide instead of "model 39" slide.

I'm not too upset for whatever reason. It was really cheap. And in really good condition. Maybe I'll find a 2nd gen barrel and put it on my 39-2 frame.

Thanks for the FB. Since this is going to be a project and I wasn't too much money into it, I'll proceed. A good help from all! DW41F.
