replacing parts

Members here have an easy time playing with their smith revolvers. I am wondering where the internal parts for the out dated models and production years are coming from.

Im really considering a trainwreck of sorts model 28 and its gonna need parts. Also considering some older model 15s.. and parts may be needed.

I have used Numrich and Jack First. Hit and miss.

I have heard of Lee's Gun Parts but I have not used them yet.

I have some OCD and anal retentive behaviors. I know the risk of bubba gus, and buying used in general.


The posts in the last few months here show its not unusual to have a nifty quality gun missing internal parts, or the wrongs parts installed.

Numrich and Jack First are great places for individual parts, as are a couple of other internet sources.

The vast majority of my replacement pieces come from parts kits that are sold after the destruction of a firearm. Ebay, GunBroker, and the other auction sites are a good source for these.

It really depends on how deep into the rabbit hole you want to go. If you're only restoring one, then individual pieces are the way to go. If you plan on making a hobby out of buying junk and making it work, the kits are invaluable.

Ive spent a good bit of money on hobbies that i should not have spent.. 4x5 camera and lenses, and film holders, tripod of doom.

The only gun shop selling a vintage gun, is a place that budsguns refuses to deal with for anything.. they literally have it on the "list of instant refund and order cancellation gun dealers".

Its just that I have 1 modern smith revolver and want more. But the modern ones are not exactly calling to me, unless its a 45 acp.

I was going to practice with my handguns every week this year, but I have discovered that the weather makes it hard to shoot until it gets above freezing. and it really hasnt been above freezing this year for me.

The only smith and wesson revolvers on the dealer shelf within 100 miles are j frames and a few of the 350 legend guns. I think one place has a model 66 with adjustable sight but I wasnt impressed with the damage that display gun had taken to look at.

I guess i need a smith gun that can be used like I was a cop keeping good practice of shooting skills.
