Just curious if anyone has been able to unpin their pinned stock, replaced it with a different stock and was able to repin it? I'd really like to do it, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Is it something only a gunsmith can do?

Just knock out the pin. Doesn't take a gunsmith to do that.

If it was supposed to be permanent it's be epoxied.

Unless you hold up the local liquor store no one cares if the stock telescopes.

I took the pin out of mine with a small drill bit. Just find the smallest bit that fits inside the sleeve that pins the stock. Back it out and your all set.

I'm asking how to unpin and then repin a new stock in place, which would be compliant with the law.

oh, I see. In that case, (keep in mind I havnt put my hands on a pinned version) I would think you could just get the old one out, put on the new buttstock, and repin it with a pressure-pin. do you have any pics of where its pinned?

Also, I just actually read your original post. I missed that the first time. sorry!

It's only on one side. Hope this helps!

Nevermind. I tried what Club Gun Fan said and it only made it worse. Guess it's stuck there now!

can't you gently pound it out with a punch? if not, could you find a pin that is about the same size or larger and just completely drill the one you have out?

i'm sorry you live in a state that has such a stupid rule.

There's no place for it to go, so a punch won't work. The only way I can get it out is by pulling it, but I don't have anything small enough that will grasp onto it.

I tried drilling it, and all it did was push it in farther and broke two drill bits. :(

On the fixed telestocks (during the ban) I think folks were drilling a small hole on the other side of the stock to the pin, then pushing the pin out.

well id take a drill bit small enough to go through the hole in the pin and drill all the way through the stock.. then take a slightly larger drill bit smaller than the pn dia. and using the hole you just drilled as a guide drill from the other side till you get to the pin... take a punch that will fit in that hole and tap the pin out the side it was installed from... so you can reinstall and remove as you please..... just my .02

Or an ak-47... you gotta love the guns that sound like they have loose change in them

Ya we build aks and I don't own 1 lol.. I do have a sks and its dependable for sure but the aks r to.. they just alittle to stamped for my taste

Is it bad that I don't even know what an SKS is?

LOL! Not really... I suspect a lot of folks here don't either. Subscribe to 2 or 3 gun magazines and it won't be long before you've caught up on the old stuff and are up to date with the new stuff.
