They are as close as they could get it, but they are still not Smith & Wessons.
Dave Chicoine did a big review of the Schofields, and he thinks they are are
close. If you were going to make a movie, and needed a Schofield, they would work.

I've read the Ubertis are very close although there were some safety features added. I have a couple of their Schofield replicas which I like a lot. And I just saw a Beretta Laramie (made by Uberti) at a local shop which was one of the nicest firearms I've ever seen. If I can sell my house I might just buy one.

Howdy, I am fortunate to have one Uberti .44 Russian, two Uberti Schofields [7 inch and 5 inch], and one Uberti Laramie [copy of the S&W New Model No. 3].

Fit and finish is very good on all with the Laramie being a little "lesser" but still acceptable considering the price of an original in "new" condition.

The .44 Russian differs from an original very little. I have heard that many parts will interchange as well as the grips. Mine will shoot into 2 inches at 25 yards with Black HIlls factory ammo.

The Schofields are a bit larger in the cylinder areas over the originals and maybe in a few other dimensions and less accurate than the Russian, I get 3 1/2 to 4 inch groups at 25 yards. Incidentially the actual S&W "Schofield Re-do" was shy the original firing pin configuration but chambered in true .45 Schofield....both replicas are about equal in fit and finish.

The Laramie is probably also a bit larger in frame and cylinder over the original and chambered for .45 Long Colt and .38 Special. The original was chambered in .45 Schofield although rare. MIne is not proving to be exceptionally accurate as it prints about 4 inch groups at 25 yards. But it is accurate enough for Cowboy Action Stuff.

They all have an internal safety/hammer block that sometimes works to block the hammer when you want it to shoot. They are best removed [easy to do]. Then you load only five with the hammer down on an empty chamber, a la Colt.

Cimmaron Firearms a few years back went to Armi San Marco and had them do an exact copy in dimensions of the Schofield. They looked great but many failed to work in various ways. Cimarron quickly recalled them and or refunded money and let the idea fade. I think they now import a Uberti Schofield.

I personally am very pleased with my S&W repros. Pics below.

I have a Uberti Russian. Really like that gun and, despite the rather crude sights, it is amazingly accurate.

I've ordered a Navy Arms 7 inch 45 Colt Schofield. No idea when it might show up.

I'm looking into buying a Beretta Laramie. 7 inch 45 Colt.

Were the S&W made Schofields worth the money they are now going for?
