During my travels during work Thursday I stopped in an LGS that's about an hour from my house. They are usually overpriced on both new and used guns but have a large selection. In the bottom of the semi-auto case was what I thought was a model 59 wearing hideous Pachmayrs, marked at $329.
The clerk told me it was actually a 459 and I asked to see it. I was concerned about what was wrong with it because of the (IMO) low price. The gun was in very good to excellent condition finish-wise.
Function was good too, but the magazine wouldn't eject when pushing the mag release. One had to hook a fingernail on the end of the base plate to pull the magazine out. I also noticed that the base plate was bent slightly downward.
I asked the clerk if the price listed was the best they could do, and after a couple minutes he said he could drop it to $300. Knowing I had tons of spare mags for this (which I thought may be the solution to the mag eject issue), and also had a nice set of spare grip panels it was too good of a deal to pass up.
Once home, I wiped it down and tried a couple of the mags I had in place of the one that came with the gun and they both ejected smartly out of the gun. I needed another 9mm like I needed a hole in my head but this was a heck of a deal. This 459, with the ambi safety and smaller, non-winged rear sight makes a good companion to the other 459 I have with the non-ambi safety and winged adjustable rear sight.
