I recently picked up this 686 no dash from a local pawn shop. They had a 28-2 sitting with it and both were waaaay over priced. I looked them both over and they appeared to be from the same collection. Both with minimal wear and both wearing pachmayr grips. I tried to make a run at the pair, but could not make it happen at a price I was willing to pay. So I laid 8 uncle Ben's on the counter and walked out with the 686 and a smile. This was $250 under the asking price. I was a able to pick up some grips to make it somewhat right. (see my post seeking grip info) I think the grips look and feel great and make it a bit more complete. Everyone loves pics, so just though I would share the before and after.

Congrats - 686s are one of the best revolvers made.

The presentation grips look great on that revolver, although one can never go wrong the targets.

A little negotiating is half the fun. You did good. Nice piece
Does it have the "M" stamp under the crane?

The update was for the 686 and 686-1 guns. You have the pinned Patridge front sight, which for me is special. Most were ramped red insert sights forged integral with the frame. Well done!

Very nice Model 686. Given a choice between a Model 28 and a Model 686, it would be a tough call for me. Both are equally durable, but your 686 is wearing a Patridge front sight, something not often seen on 6 inch Model 686's and the Patridge sight is better for target shooting.
