RESPONSE CARBINE 9MM

Many don't:

Ruger PC Carbine Model 19100

Henry Homesteader

Keltec Sub 2K
- looks like someone put a couple of handles on a stick.

Hi-Point Carbine - looks like someone stopped before they got done carving away everything that isn't a rifle.

I think it's the black plastic many are made from. My wife tells me any of my black rifles look evil, the same gun with wood furniture she likes.

The Chiappa M1-9 looks has the 30 carbine look but no idea how good it is .

Every time I take out my FPC I just enjoy it more and more. My wife and her friends shot it and they liked it. I am sure that the Response will be equally as good but, just don't have any justification to get it. 6 months earlier and I might have been looking at it instead.

I looked into the Chiappa before settling on the Ruger. From the reviews I saw it looked like the Ruger would be my best choice. It has actually turned out to not be as reliable as I had hoped. Fortunately, it's only a plinker. I do wish I had done a search on Ruger PCC stovepipes before buying though.

Might let ruger see if they can work the bugs out of yours .

I have little need for a 9mm carbine other than as fun gun . My wife and I are both 68 now and we both have some physically limits but for my 5'-2 wife our old typical barrel heavy AR9 and her AR15 are a bit much for her to shoot very many rounds from durring a range session but the FPC looks to works well for her now and she lokes it .

For me I still happy with my commander in 45 or m&p 4.25 40sw to fill my defensive carry needs . There may be a day I'll probably want to carry a 9mm and maybe by that point the FPC will fill a real need for me too . Until then my AR15 will be my defensive carbine. or the old AR9 will be for fun .

Had this come out a couple of years ago, I’d probably had bought one instead of the Foxtrot Mike PCC I bought. Not that I don’t like the FM, but I had more confidence in S&W at the time I bought the FM.

I do enjoy PCCs, having used them in my IDPA games. They are fun to shoot

Picked mine up yesterday and ordered a sight for it today. NOTE to Caj - yes, this too comes with no sights - oh the humanity!

It seems to fit well, is light as expected and I was really happy with the trigger. Not a 2lb deerslayer special but very decent nonetheless and I suspect will get even better with use. Stuck a can on it and just waiting for Amazon to deliver the red dot so I can go try it out!

Might try JP yellow springs on the response carbine for a lighter trigger pull . Works well on 5.56 primers so should work on 9mm too .

My Response, anxiously awaiting range time:

Conceptually, the Response is interesting. ..................I am curious about the polymer receiver, not sure how flexible the rifle will be beyond a range toy. Waiting for reviews.

Per various sources, HK found that their poly receiver in the G36 wasn't all they hoped it would be. OTOH, the Response isn't select fire 7.62. Do wish it looked less militaristic.

My PC Carbine

Is a Rossi R92 in .38 Special/.357 mag.

We call them "termite" guns. Metal and wood, that's the ticket. AND, they come with iron sights that work (sort of - depending on one's age).

Here's a pic of the old stainless one I sold in a fit of insanity a few years back. My new one is blued but otherwise exactly the same.

Where does it fold??? :D

This is the non-folding version of the FPC.

Been thinking about the FPC for a while. Handled one in a LGS a month or so back.

An interesting duck......

IMHO it's just a 16" PCC that can be folded; so you can transport it from here to there without anyone knowing you have a [long gun] PCC.

It's not a "take down" like my Ruger .22 take down. An AR can be broken down into 2 parts; the upper and lower. You can get a short barreled rifle with a folding stock. You can have an AR Pistol with a brace. There are take-down lever guns.

Any of which can be used to accomplish the same "sleight of hand" as folding the FPC. Some can be used/fired without having to put your gun back together. SBR or AR pistol

My Beretta CX-4 PCC is only 29" long and travels in a Ukulele case. and pairs nicely with any of the Beretta 92 family.

Still the FPC seems to be a interesting option.

Wife and I both carry M&P compacts. I bought an FPC so I could shoot it in idpa as a PCC and maybe in a few 2 gun matches. I also like to carry it on longer trips. Then we have 2 pistols and 1 rifle that all take the same mags which I really like. The downfall of the FPC for the 2 gun is the short rail. I was planning on a dot sight and a 3x multiplier since they always have an 80-100 yd shot somewhere in there. To get a laser, adot, and a 3x on there is a cram job and the dot w/o the 3x is really far forward. I may try a Response because I have seen so many malfunctions in many different brands of ARs in 9mm. I have no interest in other calibers so this would be fine for me.
