Rethinking your carry choice in light of the riots.

17 year olds are literally incapable of making good decisions, their brains are still developing, hormones still wildly unregulated. For those who actually believe they were making good decisions all the time at that age pat yourself on the back and keep it to yourself.
We're at a tipping point in America, never has it been more polarized. And the answer isn't shooting destructive protestors any more than it is protesting destructively. The answer is effective leadership that creates a middle ground for constructive discussions and agreements, something that is entirely MIA in today's hotbed of anger from each side.
And vilifying the protestors who got shot to somehow rationalize the shootings is just weak. Their mothers and fathers are sitting at home, emotionally wrecked, their lives torn apart by something that should not have happened. No one on this forum hasn't had a kid who made mistakes, took a while to grow up, and finally got it together to beome a good citizen and father? I had a son who I thought would never survive his teen and young adult years, my wif and I were prepared to lose him at any time.
Now he is an outstanding father of three boys, has a great job that he works long and hard at, and every Fathers Day he puts us both in tears thanking me for standing by him during his 'crazy years.'
No one deserves to be killed that isn't in the act of trying to kill or seriously hurt someone themselves.

Agreed. 17 year old kid was stupid. How old were his attackers? Much older.

Should have been much wiser.

Should have been home in bed, preparing to go to school or work the next day.

Should have been tucking their children in.

Should have known not to go out into the night to cause mayhem.

Should have known not to chase an armed man who just shot somebody, justifiably or not. Kid was surely in shock and wasn't up to making rational decisions.

Should have known not to kick him, hit him with a skateboard.

Should have known not to carry a gun when they were felons

As for the kid, he should have left adult matters into adult hands, who are hopefully more capable of handling them. I saw a video of one of the members of the kid's group claim some cops in a Bearcat told him they were gonna push the protesters towards his group and then leave the area, letting the militia deal with them. Not for one second do I believe a professional law enforcement officer, riding with other law enforcement officers, looks at those Call of Duty playing wanna-he's as anything close to a comrade in arms. They're clowns. Do I think the cops are nice to them and throw them bottles of water? Sure I do. He doesn't have to worry about them looting and burning so he's nice to them. But he surely doesn't respect them.

Yeah, the country is polarized. No doubt. It bothers me everyday. Too bad so much blame is placed on one side where none is placed on the other. Look at the slant of the media coverage. Rioting referred to as peaceful protests while armed people protecting their property are vigilantes.

Things would not have spiraled to this point if we had leadership that didn't use dog whistle calls. No one is addressing the causes of this unrest, only calling the aftermath names like anarchy, communism, etc. Then you have a certain cable station fanning the flames daily. The criminal faction of these riots are nothing more than that, criminals. Always had criminals and always will. I am sure when possible to identify these criminals the police are making arrests. Nothing great about a nation lining up on opposite sides of each other shouting and carrying rifles. Sure, the government could bring in heavy artillery and put down a riot. China and Russia do it all the time. That is communism. Will it solve the underlying causes, no. It is time for government to step up and do the hard work we pay them to do.

If this is what a "greater America" looks like, no thank you. To those condoning murder on American streets thinking this is good for the 2nd amendment , God help us.

I don't see it as condoning murder, but affirming the possible of self defense. None of us were there so as noted wait for what comes out beyond the little bit being shown now especially considering how the media has been giving a pass to those engaged in criminal acts over the past months by calling it peaceful protests.

There has been both.

The very small percentage of those who are arrested are either under-charged or charges dropped entirely. The NY DA has ordered all property crime arrests to be not prosecuted. The mayor has advocated for it as well. There is virtually no risk of attending a BLM protest and destroying or stealing property. Free passes for 99% of them. It's an actual business to loot and then flip the proceeds. Or did you think people actually need 20 pairs of Jordan's?

The anger certain communities feel is nothing compared to the anger others are feeling at watching everything they built being taken and those who took it don't face consequences. All with the approval of those in power who don't want to anger their base. Antifa was always here. It was just shunned and not allowed to operate with impunity. Now they can. And i don't know what's gonna happen with this next election. Enjoy the relative calm now.

If I felt that charges were political I'd never have worked in policing. I'm finishing my 41st year in the industry.

The criminal complaint is a probable cause statement. As you are aware, more detailed evidence is for the grand jury or preliminary hearing. If the decedents or the wounded victim were armed, that would have been in the complaint; do note the police had the videos as well and both they and the DA are accountable for what's in the complaint.

Criminal histories of victims are irrelevant in court. Period.

Shooting someone whose empty hands are in the air means at least one count isn't really vulnerable to the affirmative defense of 'self-defense' or 'defense of others.'

I believe in the 2nd Amendment; I also believe the 5th and 6th are more germane to this discussion.

Here's a photo of the felon "with the empty hands" that got shot in the arm, taken seconds after he got shot. It's pretty obvious he has prayer beads in his right hand. Then there's the tweet his friend made from the hospital last night where felon guy admitted he had the pistol and only wished he had shot sooner.

All true. But there have been certain areas that were reported to be a total disaster and in reality it was nothing close. Sometimes footage of things burning are portrayed as the"total anarchy" but have proven to be of another country. I would link some of Yankee Marshall's videos of Portland and Seattle where he goes there and shows the truth, but he has a tendency to use profanity so I won't. Google them for yourself.

You mean like the livestream video where he's walking through CHAZ talking about how "peaceful" it is and then some antifa thugs take his camera/phone and beat him up?

I find it funny that felons attack a minor and people here take the side of the felons, even so called police...

Some people go off spouting fake news stories that can be debunked by looking anywhere on the internet using actual footage of the incident.

Then blame a news network and the President because people want to overthrow our county and build it back better with Marxism.

Strange times, strange times indeed.

Sorry if I'm not easily outraged; I'll wait to see what the court does with all available admissible information in proper order.

Amen, brother.

Strange times, strange times indeed.

Even funnier is "law abiding gun owners" supporting lawlessness, anarchy and the destruction of property belonging to people who had nothing to do with past grievances.

Wanna blame someone, try starting with the mayors and governors turning a blind side.

Yes, strange times indeed.
