When I first aquired my 617 it had the full lug on it but, I wanted a no lug 617. They were out there but, costly! I pondered this for quite a while and decided to make one myself(I hate the extra weight of the full underlug). Into the shop I went with a hacksaw, files and emery paper. This is the results

not the best job but, lighter than the full lug thingy. It can be done with patients and perserverance just go slow, the front lockup is different from K to N frames but, I'm sure you would be able to shape this with needle files.

Have you considered Nickel? A 6 1/2" M29 in Nickel might be . . . oh, don't know, even better?
