For those living in the NW Ohio area I thought I would offer a heads up re a fairly new shop. It's called The Buffalo Trading Co. and is located in Findlay. I went there recently to apply for a job, and browsed the store while I was there. I asked one of the staff how long they had been in business and he said that they opened last July. I had not been aware of it and had not seen any advertising.
Let me offer a short review. It is the largest shop in the area, both in square footage and in inventory. They are currently preparing an indoor range to open soon under the same roof, and they either have a gunsmith on duty now, or will in the near future. For those of us who are used to very small shops with very limited stock, this is a considerable change. It has far more Smith revolvers, new and old, than I've seen in any of the shops I've visited in the region, including Sportsmen's Den in Shelby -also a sizable number of Colts and Rugers. There are also a lot of long guns, which are on racks out on the floor so that customers may examine them without needing a staff person to hand them across a counter(hope that no one abuses this privilege).
The owners/employees are without exception the most pleasant, customer-oriented folks I've ever run into in a gunshop. Downsides are: a)They have few accessories for sale and no reloading supplies -just guns; b)the place is too dark. It's obvious that they are attempting to create the atmosphere of a saloon in the old west, complete with an old style bar area, piano, card table, statues of Bill Cody and Annie Oakley, full body mounts of bears, a cougar, etc. That stuff's OK, but one really can't examine the guns well enough in the low light. I think I may mention this to them the next time I go. There are some counters with better light in the facility, but you have to carry the gun a ways to them to get it in the light.
All things considered this is a great addition to the area. Here is the address and phone, for anyone who is interested in visiting and needs directions:
The Buffalo Trading Co.

Andy
