Well, after trying my full-size 45 ACP and finding trigger too heavy. I bit the bullet and got the apex kit,
Results:
1 Went from 7 lbs to 4 lbs pull [used original S&W springs]
2 Trigger reset worse than original, needs a RAM kit, but apex doesn't make one for the 45acp,WHY?
3 UBS can't tell difference?
4 Accuracy greatly improved, on a par with my Kimber 1911, but the trigger is not even close [but two times the cost of M&P]

Conclusions: Apex need to make ram for the 45 ACP
The sear makes the biggest difference if you want to reduce trigger pull.

The sear makes the biggest difference if you want to reduce trigger pull.

This is why I only put in an Apex sear and did a DIY round/polish job on the strikers. The Apex sear reduced the pull and the round/polish job smoothed it out. Both of my FS45s break around 5lbs which is perfect for a combat/SD pistol. I have no problem with the barely there reset, but I'll buy an improved slide stop to have an audible and tactile reset if S&W ever makes them for the 45s.

Apex is working on a "universal RAM" that will work in the .45s and other newer M&Ps - S&W changed the design of the sear housing so the old RAM won't work. My new 45c had the same indistinct reset until I replaced the gen 1 slide stop with a gen 3 - it made a big difference. Now it's almost as distinct as my RAM equipped M&Ps.
