How far must the American people pushed before a full scale revolt would be the only answer? What type of actions would our government have to take to trigger such a response? Would YOU join and physically fight against tyranny and oppression? Where would it start and how would it be organized? Would it just be apocalyptic with no winner?

It happens in other countries across the world in these times and I think we are not immune. Would the American spirit prevail and be victorious once again? Thoughts?

Please, this is not a political thread it is theoretical only. How do you think it would go down?

Only when the quality of life has fallen to zero, when unemployment is 50% or more, when it takes a million dollars to buy a loaf of bread, when there is no governmental structure to maintain order. If these things happen the whole world is going down with us.

I don't think it will happen. At least not for a long long time. If anything I think at first it will turn into a Detroit and stay that way for a while. I mean if the people of that city have grown accustomed to living like that........

Detroit is supposed to be making a comeback these days. One of the reasons is a progun police chief.

Compared to the slums of places like Rio, Detroit has always been a shining jewel of civilization.

I'm not talking about socioeconomic collapse here, which would probably be a byproduct of such a movement, but more on the lines of resistance.

True, there are worse places.....Somalia comes to mind.....but we're talking about the US.

If anything I think it will happen when people won't be able to buy large shinny spinning rims. Now I'm not picking on rims specifically. It's just something that is totally useless and yet people will spend their money on it before making repairs to their house or paying their bills. It's not going to be the disregard of the Constitution that get it going or higher taxes or dumb laws it's going to be when the avg schmuck can't get instant gratification from some junk.

For instance.....let's say there is an all out gun ban. How many people would protest and write their politicians maybe have a walk out day. ....something. no imagine the outcry if all smart phones were banned!

When you see the delivery trucks stop delivering food to the grocery stores it would be the beginning of a new way of life. When I think about the food delivery system in this country, I am amazed. Imagine your life without it. How many of the 318 million Americans have ever known hunger? The poorest of the poor eat every day.

The closest we have ever been was the depression. It has to be tied to economy. Folks with money in their pocket and food on the table, aren't very rebellious. People without pockets and no table are rebellious. In the 30s, the middle classes were losing hope, the rich lost all, and the poor, just remained poor. New systems like communism and national socialism were the new alternatives to what was thought to be failed democracy. There were lots of communists and Bund members back then. How stupid they looked a few years later. First, there must be an alternative. Supposedly, Churchill said something like, "Democracy is the worst possible system, except all the other systems."

We are losing our freedom everyday a little at a time. Most people are too busy with their phones glued to their ears or pecking on it every waking moment. A lot waste more time on Facebook & places like that than they do working. Most are happy getting their "free stuff" & don't give a damn who's paying for it. The same bunch spit out kids as fast as they can make them & then could care less about them. Their free phones mean more to them than their kids do except for the more they spit out the more "free stuff" they get. Nothing is going to bother them except when the "free stuff" runs out. Then all hell breaks out! One day we are going to wake up & notice we have lost just about all our freedoms. Until that happens its business as usual. That's when another civil war breaks out. I'm 61 & I may live to see it, unfortunately.

This is a tough call. You're talking about a general and widespread insurrection as opposed to a splinter or extremest group operating at the margins of society.

Frankly, I don't think an armed and violent insurrection will happen. If it did, I would make every attempt to sit it out. I would like to think that sane heads will eventually prevail to fix whatever broke in society.

As you can well imagine, this is a difficult topic to discuss without inevitably delving into politics, a forbidden topic here.

I have to be careful about wandering too close to politics but I agree. Not so much that sane heads would prevail but to resist would require organization. Surveillance is too prevalent and any group larger than one is at risk of infiltration.

I'll slip this in here before it gets locked down.

I was just in Mexico yesterday. The latest revolution was about 20 years ago in the state of Chiapas. Around 1971 the gov't changed their constitution and restricted ownership and carry. A result of the Tlatelolco Massacre, fear of anti-gov't sentiment and large numbers of people arming themselves. Sound familiar? Before all of this happened Mexico was a lot like the US where firearms were more or less available to everyone.

I hope I'm dead and gone before anything like that happens here.

don't know about that ... the weeks following Sandyhook were getting pretty tense if you had your ear to the right rail.
all that was needed to kick it off was one voice loud and credible enough to reach everyone with the marching orders.

The problem is that no one is taking into account that we are one of the foremost nuclear powers in the world.
If it ever comes to pass that a rebel force begins to gain the upper hand, every nation in the world has a stake in that outcome, and it is in their best interest to turn the tides against us so that those nukes remain controlled and secure.

if we have to fight ourselves, we will also take on the world by default.

need to modify my post as I value my membership to this forum.

Proud of Tom Cotton and,

You know your country is bad when Russia compares it to Sodom and Gomorrah.

Anyone been reading comments in news stories posted by yahoo? We are already at war--a war of words. Dont believe me-just pick any topic and look at the comments. People out there-hate each other because they are either Conservative or Liberal. Pick almost any story to read the comments and you will see--im not making this up.Personally, I do not make postings in the comments section, and I will not be doing so anytime soon.

The name calling happens on both sides--and not that im picking on any one side--I DO find that one side is doing more insulting than the other. It makesme sick--to see all that anger out there.American against American--or those who hate anything dealing with the Israelis and whatever.

I am trying to figure out the difference between civil war and revolution. My view is people will get tired of there rights being taken away being taxed into poverty. A voice greater then mind with have to come from out of the wilderness to get the attention of the people who care. that will be the revolution.

Civil war will be over water and food production.

Was Ferguson a mini-revolution? Were Ruby Ridge or Waco mini-revolutions? Does any9one remember the feds taking out an entire city block of Philadelphia in the 70's? These brush fires tend to get put out pretty quickly. Until central command and control of an overwhelming force becomes ineffective no uprising has a chance at long-term survival.

Jeez, I can feel the moderators reading this over my shoulder as I type!
