Revolver questions

I bought a 66-8 about a year ago. I have changed stocks, sights and thumb latch just to suit me. Other than that it is a stock 2.75" gun.
By the third cylinder of rounds I knew it was a keeper. The trigger is great and really improved about 50 rounds in. It shoots everything from 110 gr. .357's to Buffalo Bore's .38+p FBI load to mid range wad cutters very well. I don't shoot it past 20 yards but it's quite accurate to my standards. I think you will like it. They are a little heavy even in the 2.75" barrel so a good holster and belt are necessary. For a holster I recommend Ken Null and for belt Rick Garcia. That's my $.02.

What about the S&W Model 13? It seems like a good .357 mag revolver.

It is a "good" revolver but it lacks adjustable sights.

Adjustable sights are much more visible than the fixed sights of the 13. That makes them quicker to acquire than the fixed sight 13, which makes them easier to use for SD.

It is (was), but its main advantage over a Model 19 is the fixed sights. It is mostly a collectible now. For a shooter, I would probably choose a Model 65 (also fixed sighs) over a model 13, assuming you want an older used revolver.

edit: Maybe "difference" is a better word than advantage, :p:D

The fixed sights are an advantage in that they are almost indestructible.

Moreover, a fixed sight Model 13 or 65 is substantially trimmer than its Model 19 or 66 equivalent.

Personally, once the front blade of a Model 13 or 65 is painted to achieve contrast with the rear sight channel, the fixed sights of the Model 13 and 65 are about as quick to pick up as the sights on a Model 19 or 66. [However, the SS sights on early Model 66 no dashes are really tough to pick up, imo.]

ETA: There is nothing sexier in a K frame than a 3" Model 19, but cost is prohibitive, a Model 66 is a close second though.
