Revolver Saturation

I guess I’ll never figure out why someone doesn’t like J Frames. I’ve never liked the look of nickel (and I don’t own a single one, more for those of you that like them) but J Frames really are the sweet spot for me, and I have big mitts. My favs are blued steel and walnut but my M442-2 & M340PD will get the job done. My K & N Frames are all range guns now.

Not handguns but....
Traditional muzzle loaders. Before you know it, you will be looking at/for/buying another flintlock rifle, and you'll want a musket, maybe a trade gun or 2 or 3, "correct" knives, moccasins, coonskin hats, real bever felt tricones, white canvas tents, hand stitching your own drop front trousers, etc. Nicotine aint got nuttin on black powder pilgrim. ;)
OH, Cannons, how could I forget cannons?

To each his own, but muzzle loaders are not for me. I have already been down that road years ago. I actually gave them away after a couple years

I don't like them, because I can't hit anything with them, and the actions to me are too stiff. I own one snubby, a 15-3

I have not bought a revolver in maybe close to a couple years. I seem to rationalize myself out of everything I look at. I don't like J frames or nickel guns. I have a varied selection of K and N frames including my birth year K38. So what's left? I have no desire to collect every variation of a specific model or caliber, and I am not into antiques.

As for semi autos, I don't like black plastic, and I don't really like semi models beyond the 1911 original style. Not into modded out stuff or 2011 double stack styles. I have a couple Colts, a couple Sigs and a couple Dan Wessons. The Dan Wesson's are by far the best. They are like a jeweled action, with a wonderful trigger.

I have also taken to a 5.5" and 7" Model 41 Smith and Wesson, and well as a Ruger MK4 Target with and upgraded Volquartsen trigger, so there is lots of rimfire shooting going on.

So the question is, where do I go from here? I do not see myself headed to Wilson Combat or Nighthawk and the likes, but I am super fussy about triggers especially because I flinch from hundreds of thousands of 12ga trap loads.

Suggestions?

I purchased a S&W Performance .45 for carry. Got it home and realized something that comes to us all with time, racking this nice .45 is not exactly something I enjoy anymore due to my age. Now I want to find a S&W snub revolver in a .44. As my son said age sucks. Good luck in your search.

I have gone years without buying a revolver.

Actually I could live without any firearm I have bought since 1985.

Don’t worry about impressing people with the latest Range Toy.

I have a CZ-75 PCR, which is a lot of fun to shoot. Stock trigger didn't get great reviews, but Cajun Gun Works in Louisiana offered an upgraded trigger, which is vastly better than stock. The older variants (in the whole CZ line) have aluminum or steel frames. De-cock only was what attracted me. No safety, just like a wheel gun. The newer variants have polymer frames, about which I share your opinion. Give a look if you've not already decided on something else.

Sounds like you have all you NEED. Just spend the money on more ammo and get some more range time with the ones you have.

I'm in the same situation. I now go to the range with "Theme days," one trip it is all 22 LR, another is all 38 spec., another all 41 Mag., ...

Try a Manhurin or Korth.

I had only bought 1 revolver in last 5 years a Colt 22 king cobra that was on back order for a few years. In fact, I have spent the last number of years paring down my collection. Having diposed of 75% or more. Now I am at the point of agonizing over what should stay or go, getting down right difficult. That was until today, when I became aware of the 22 and 10 mm Mountain guns. They are creating an itch that may have to be scratched.

My first S&W revolver was the M28-2 6” my Dad gave me when I came home from the Army. I practiced with that revolver every chance I got and I carried it in a shoulder holster until I bought my M36. I practiced a lot with that Chief’s Special until I got really good with it. I never had a problem qualifying with it after back-up revolvers were authorized. They work for me...

Take a trip to the Nra Whittington Center in Raton New Mexico. They have a range for everything you have to shoot.

This has been a very thought provoking thread, something that has passed through my mind a few times, especially as I get older. When I "want something to want" , without any real desire for a specific item , I realize that I trying to fill a bottomless pit.
Don't get me wrong, I love my guns, I beong to a club, I shoot twice a week (100-150 per session) , I compete once a month in an informal action match.
But enough is enough. Enjoy what you have, shoot more.

In 2023 I purchased a Ruger GP-100 10mm Match Champion. With TK Custom moon clips I can shoot 40 S&W reliably in this revolver. Last week I finally bought a S&W 625-3 45 Cal Model of 1989, 5" barrel.
I built a convenient moon clip caddy in a 50-caliber ammo can for the 10mm and just finished the new 45 ACP caddy.
No pics of the 625 yet

Everybody should visit there. They have about 150 RV sites and cabins, but the cabins book a year in advance. Been there as many as 3 times one year. About 15 ranges now. Not a an RV park, no pool or anything like that, just camping in the hills, with animals including bears and cougars often killing pets. If you shoot it is the Mecca
