Any recommendations for someone to checker a custom Sako ?

I'd do a Google search for the top checkering guys in the Field. I'd look for credentials that list verifiable clients and customers, and maybe even factory rifle work. You can call Dan Turnbull in Upstate NY and if he doesn't do checkering as a stand alone job, I'd certainly ask him for his recommendation on who to use. Turnbull is about the best there is but his wait times are ridiculously long and his prices are about the highest.

Again, anyone he recommends would be a good place to go.

There are quite a few custom checker'rs out there.
Do a search and check some of the gunsmithing and custom gun sites/forum for discussions on who's who and critiques.

One that comes to mind is Sherry Abraham. She's in Oregon and used to checker for Kimber.

Quite a few builders use her for checkering work. I have never senty out checkering work as I always did my own (not taking on any new work though)
Prices and patterns are listed there somewhere on the website.

But if you want to pay 3 times the price, he might pencil you in.

The Gunsmithing and the Custom Rifle forums often have a few 'Who to go to for Checkering?' discussions in their historys as well.
