Re the actual Olympics from there a few years ago, I heard two women discussing it.

One said the games were in Brazil. Her friend challenged that, saying they were in some place called Rio...

Many Americans have a very poor sense of geography. I'm torn between crying or laughing at such things. But it makes me worry, for our nation.

I will agree to triple like your post.....;)

This Accuweather site has awesome Geography lessons. Zoom the map into your neighborhood using radar and watch the rain storm arrive or zoom out for the bigger weather picture.

Zoom in tight on any country to see the location of many different cities. Excellent Geography Lessons......:)

Looks like two rotating storms heading this way thru the Atlantic.....

Great uplifting video about the human spirit! Yes, you can do anything if you really want to. All through history some people have been doing that which was "known" to be impossible to most people.

Well, sometimes physical challenges can be very formidable. But after Petra Nemcova overcame what she did in the Thai tsunami that killed her fiance, doctors said it was a miracle. She was even featured in an ABC special program. Look her up. She now raises money for homes and schools for orphans of natural disasters.

But the late genius Stephen Hawking wasn't physically able to overcome his obstacle. Some bodies are too stricken.

I pray that medical science can eventually overcome neurological issues not now treatable.

I began studying geography in elementary school and continued in college. This and history tell us what the world is and why. But too many just don't care!

One way to learn about some countries is to have a hobby like guns, wine, or anthropology that will acquaint you with some nations. I was on several boards about a series filmed in Australia and learned a lot about Oz there. Members came from many lands. One fan fiction author has readers in over 60 countries!

But one must care. I know a girl,20, who is uninterested in anything that happened before she was born. I can't understand that attitude and it now seems common.
