RIP Andy Griffith

Andy Passed this morning

Boys,

We lost a goodun today. I grew up with Andy and Barney and Goob, etc. There was a message in every single episode of Andys show. Most all of it was based on the way "I would like to see us go back to once again." It was corny, funny, stupid, slapstick, etc. But it made you feel good to just be alive. I think each of us, in our own way, wished we could have lived in Mayberry with Andy and the crew. Maybe, just maybe, we did.

Rest in Peace Andy, you are a goodun.

Regards

Bill

I spend the last day helping a friend prepare a car for the 4th of July parade. The car is a copy of the Mayberry patrol car. My job was to create the CD with sound bites from the show in between repeated opening song "The Fishing Hole" otherwise know as the Whistle Song. I must have listened to the Whistle song 100 times in the last couple of days. It will be bitter sweet to see the car in the parade tomorrow.

RIP Andy Griffith.

I took a look at that video . Brought a tear to my eyes. Thats Andy .

I always thought my father was a lot like the Sheriff of Mayberry...always enjoyed the show...when I got to watch "such foolishness on the television" as my dear mother would say. I can only imagine what she would think of TV today.

Even though he wasn't "Andy Taylor," and he also put on his pants every morning like all the rest of us (except those of us who don't wear pants) and he made mistakes and I didn't always agree with his views, he will always live on as the likeable, humorous and witty Sheriff of Mayberry.

Just to mention as a possible coincidence, the pastor of my chruch gave a sermon this past Sunday entitled "Mayberry Isn't Mayberry Anymore."

Unquestionably an immensely respectable man. Also one of the best, if not the best, TV shows ever made. Those writers were geniuses. Some scenes are emblazoned on my memory. The one that sticks out the most is when he took his date "crow-shootin' " -hilarious!

That was when TV was decent entertainment.

Andy

While the world is poorer for his loss....

...I wouldn't worry about Andy. He's gone home to Mayberry to have some of Aunt Bea's hot apple pie with the Lord....and lovin every minute of it!

I think I have told this story here before but this was my encounter with Ange.

I was and am a big fan of the show and the CHARACTER portrayed by him but a few years ago I learned reality is not always what you imagined.

I was assigned to baby set a movie production effort while they were filming for a few days in one of our parks. It was one of those that are released on video in Bulgaria because it was so bad even with some "names" in it. One of our home grown fellows, Billy Bob Thornton was the lead and he was his same old wacky self.

I am not too excited about politicians, actors, or other celebrities (well maybe Skeeter) but did look forward to seeing Andy when I learned he was in the movie.

On the day he was to shoot his scenes the movie folks came over and told me not to speak to him or even look at him when he came by me.Said he did not wish to be bothered. I was amazed, Andy?

When he got out of the van and walked by with in 3 feet of me I didn't speak but I did look and he gave me the stink eye, one of the meanest facial expressions I have ever seen on a person. Same routine ever time he passed me over several days.

Wish I had kept my other memories of him and the television show and not what I saw in person.

Rest in Peace Mr. Griffith, maybe no one is bothering you now.

The film by the way was "Daddy and Them", bad. very bad.

I still enjoy watching "The Andy Griffith Show" daily...it is in syndication on one of the channels we get. Much better than most of what you see on TV nowadays!

RIP Andy Griffith, a true gentleman and TV icon. :(

It was a great show and proof that a television show can be entertaining without violence, bad language, or sexual content.

Does anybody remember the time he said "hidey behinds". He was talking about things that you could never see, because they could always hide behind the trees to Opey. Please let me me the show number so I can send it to my girls, we had alot of fun with that in the St. Marys at Traders Hill camping.....
