again, another senseless murder by 2 thugs, yes they are THUGS! 14 and 10. Shot a baby in a stroller! But I guess it is the guns fault.

The perps in the Brunswick, GA, shooting were 17 and 14. The 17 y.o. being named in the media and the 14 y.o. not being named due to juvenile status. The older will be charged as an adult.

The older of the two, the shooter, said he went after this young woman and her baby because, "Everyone knows a woman with a baby in a stroller has money to spend on the baby."

The mother was shot twice, one round clipped her ear and the other shot went to her leg. The baby was shot in the face and died.

For the love of God, *** is wrong with people today? Hopefully the justice system breaks it off in both of these worthless punks.

Why does this happen?

Something was broken in these kids lives. Something went wrong. Punishment isn't the answer, prevention is. How can we prevent this from happening? :(

Bring back public hanging.

Show evil what will happen when a thug drops and the rope separates his head from his torso.

Exactly. To everyone that says the death penalty has no deterrent value, that is because we don't do it right. Waiting 15 to 20 years and then performing the execution in the middle of the night won't dissuade anyone else.

I was floored by this on the evening news. A lot of the blame goes to children being taught a sense of entitlement and lack of consequences for their actions. In all fairness, the frontal cortex doesn't fully develop until the 20's so teens, who haven't been taught right from wrong, don't understand the consequences of their actions until it's too late. Plus schools now are useless in communicating those consequences. Unless a kid commits a felony, it's just about impossible to punish them. And God help the parent who spanks a kid. The kid drops a dime and suddenly DFACS is involved and the parents are in trouble. Read the portion of Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers where they discuss in class the raising of a puppy and the comparison to juvenile delinquents. We are where and what he wrote about 54 years ago!

Well, neither one is eligible for the death penalty due to age. And on top of that any sentence they get MUST be with benefit of parole consideration. That is the US Supreme Court talking. Something about their little minds not being developed enough to curb impulse control. I'm not looking to get into any argrument over this-I'm just telling y'all what the law is. What will probably happen is the 14 year old will be transferred to adult court both will get convicted of the Georgia murder stature that fits the crime, neither will be eligible for the death penalty and they will both be eligible for parole consideration down the road. If it would be Louisiana, the 14 year old would be tried as an adult-both would receive life sentences-that up until the Supreme Court ruling-would have been without parole, probation or suspension of sentence. In other words in Louisiana a life sentence means exactly that-they would die in prison. Now with the new rule, they would be eligible for parole consideration (not that they would get it-they just have to have that opportunity).

We should not focus on the death penalty being a deterrent. It is the punishment for a murderer. If it deters someone else from murdering that's just an added benefit. MHO.

Let me add, I don't think it's used near enough.

Not what I mean... That won't bring the poor baby back. Prevention or intervention!

I know, and as much as we'd like to believe every kid is born into this world pure of heart, sad to say it ain't so.
sometimes they get intercepted on lesser matters, other times, they slip through the cracks and make this sort of news.

Let's see...We could, as a nation, turn from evil and return to our Christian roots. We could return to personal accountability and the golden rule. We could return to the ideals that made America great. We could...

In this particular case, the crime is done. Punishment is all that remains.

Lost Lake, with all do respect, I don't give a flying **** what was broken in these kids lives. What I do care about is the fact that thanks to animals like them honest and decent people don not feel safe going about their day to day business. As so many of these animals only respect a force greater than themselves harsh punishment is the only answer. The only way to prevent crimes such as this, is for the criminal to understand if they commit a violent crime they will be hunted down and revenge will be swift.

I don't know

Howdy,
I don't know. Kill em', lock em up for life (Until they are dead.) Lock em' up for life is my first choice.
I'll make no excuse, or pretend to believe, that however they were raised that they didn't know this was wrong.
Even the young and stupid know it is bad to shoot babies and defenseless women.
It's not like they threw a rock at a window. They know that would be wrong and they know how much more murder is wrong.
I do agree there is a problem unleashed on America that needs addressing, but to excuse these two for any reason is wrong in my eyes.
It will get worse before it gets better.
Thanks
Mike

punishment = if you cant kill em (cause the court says so) then make damn sure the scum work from sun up till sun down on the hard road chain gang. there is plenty to clean and fix up in this country to keep em active for years. IF the scum does a full days work you get a plate of beans at the end of the day, ONE shower and ONE change of clothes per week.

why the hell are we keeping folks like gacy, speck, manson warm, well fed, clothed for decades. what are we accomplishing??? and who is paying for this.

all life is NOT sacred. reduce the prisons and tell the courts that: one in the back of the melon and a push into the waiting pit is more efficient.

Nothing will bring that baby back. The mother has to live knowing that her baby died at the hands of these retards. Justice is what's needed. Prevention and intervention won't bring that baby back either. I say, waste those two losers and rid society of them.

No animal would do a senseless thing such as this.

When a person commits a crime there is a price to pay. Sometimes it is a fine, sometimes it is their freedom, and in the case of a very heinous crime such as this, they forfeit their very life.

If the death penalty is imposed and carried out, I will agree that it does not bring the infant back.

But it prevents the vile scum from ever doing it again. That is enough prevention for me.

Sometimes the high road cannot be taken and you MUST get down on their level to get through to them. This is one of those times. If this is their level of respect and understanding, then take it to them in a way they understand.....VIGOROUSLY!!! Then, take out the trash just like any other day...........JMO-----I am sickened and beyond irritated.........God help us all!!

If Alabama would execute Tommy Arthur, who has been on death row since I was THIRTEEN, (I'm 43 now) look how much money the state would save, PLUS help eliminate overcrowding. The prisons are full because no one is scared of going there anymore. With all the social programs they have, and all the liberal belief in rehabilitation, why should they be scared of prison?? I'm with you; the death penalty is PUNISHMENT, and should be carried out SWIFTLY, so that it does serve as a deterrent.

Here is what I have come to feel/believe... We are where we are today because their is no more traditional family. You know a man and a woman raising a child together and staying together as was intended. It doesn't take a village to raise a child or some other such cute book title. If society wants to produce men of character with a good work ethic and a healthy respect of the law then what is needed first and foremost is a man with those qualities in the home who actively participates in raising the boy to be that man.

Today a male and female meet for a brief period and reproduce. The Male may or may not stay around and the woman usually cannot afford to raise the child and thus has to work several jobs to feed and shelter the child. So the child raises him or herself and BOOM! Here we are. Time was it was TV who raised these kids. Now we have the Internet. If that isn't scary then the rest of this will no doubt not impress you either.

Not many people raise their children these days. They wait them out and hope for the best in most cases. The few that try quickly find that the deck and the law is stacked against them and give up. Because as we all know the Government knows what is best for your child not you {Sarcasm}.

Families are the components from which Society is built. If the components are broken then so Society too will be broke in every sense of the word.
