RIP Sean Connery

His characters were some of my favorites. I knew an Englishman that came over to the U.S. in the 60's that worked as a truck driver with Connery back in the old country. According to him "He was just an ordinary bloke." Those guys get away with murder with that accent...the old boy I know used to get away with grabbing a waitress or barmaid even if her jealous boyfriend was right there...simply amazing.

"She said that Zardoz was a horrible movie but that didn't stop her from watching it repeatedly."

His only really bad movie that I can remember seeing was the ultra-weird "Zardoz." I think everyone associated with its making must have been on Acid.

I even liked the small roll he had in "The Longest Day" carrying a Bren gun ashore.

A solid actor and one that deserved to be taken seriously. Enjoyed him in the "Untouchables" he still had "IT!"

Thanks, Sean and RIP. I hope to still see many of his movies over and over again. The Man Who Would Be King, and The Wind and the Lion are two of my favorites.

"Rising Sun" rarely gets mentioned in his filmography, but it is one of my fav Connery movies. The character is perfect for him, an aging mentor to Wesley Snipes, navigating the vagaries of Japanese customs.. It has been unfairly criticized by the cancel culture for its portrayal of Asian characters. Connery makes a fool of all that rubbish with his respect for Japanese culture.

Who is this Bond character you’re all on about?

I remember him as the best King Agamemnon from Time Bandits.

:D

RIP, Mr. Connery. If I ever needed a bit of motivation to conquer a fearful task, I always told myself “James Bond would have no problem with this!” and proceeded ahead. Always.

And just a hommage to Sean Connery’s meteoric rise in rank in WW II ;)

On D-Day, June 1944, he was Private Flanagan (The Longest Day, 1962).

By September 1944, he was Maj. Gen. Urquhart (A Bridge Too Far, 1977).

I always liked sean connery. Rare was the movie that had him in it that I didn’t like.

I want to watch the untouchables now.

I first saw him in the BBC Age Of Kings series of Shakespeare’s historical plays. He played Hotspur in Henry IV—- the firebrand of the losing side in the War of the Roses. This was in 1963. He was with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Rest in pease

He wasn't just the best bond he was a fine actor in numerous other roles!
Truly one of the greats!
R.I.P. Sir Connery

I was maybe 16 when "Dr. No" hit the theaters. I saw the title in the papers and I thought it one of the "bawdy" English flix that where then out like "No Nurse No", or "Oh Doctor Oh". So naturally I took little Karen to see it. I was hooked 5 mins into the film. I couldn't believe how great Bond and the whole story was. Half an hour into the movie and I'm still glued to the screen. I can see Karen lookin at me because she's usually fighting off my octopus advances by now. About an hour into the movie I sent her to get popcorn and pop. When she came back she said she almost called her dad to come pick her up. I really liked that flic. When I took her home I did not get no huggy kissy and other stuff from Karen.
