Road rage?

Okie21, you have almost reached maturity. You'll know you're there when, in similar circumstance, you just mutter to yourself, "Dumba**), and then placidly go on your way...
I strive to better myself everyday. But I don't think I'll ever reach maturity haha

My home town has allowed golf carts to be driven on public streets. (Man, that's a curse, really)
Tourists rent the things and act like they're in a carnival funride. Normal (I'm making an assumption here) people, who drive in much larger cities all of a sudden lose any driver training they ever had. Parents let their little kids drive, as if that's a good way to teach driving, drunk frat boys tipping over on turns and who do you reckon drives away from the bar at 11 at night in a golf cart?
With post hurricane construction pickups and materials delivery trucks wedging themselves around our narrow little streets, I guarantee there's some hollering going on.
Tradesmen and working stiffs trying to get to their jobs, stuck behind folks ticking along at 10mph....I've seen some confrontation, yep. I just shake my head, think " bless their hearts", and let 'em whirl.

Here's a video of a road rage incident on the Mass Pike from this weekend where one guy was hanging on the hood of a car as the driver drove down the Mass Turnpike (I think) trying to dump him off the car.

Beyond the road rage stupidity, it looks like the incident was stopped when a CCW holder blocked the car, got out, and held the driver at gun point (about 50 sec into the video). With all the MYOB discussion on defense of third parties here lately, any thoughts on what CCW guy did here?

Back before I was even old enough to carry a gun I was the victim of a road rage incident that totally changed my views on self defense.

The short story is I drove passed a guy that was backing out of a parking spot and he must have thought I was in the wrong. He chased me for 10 miles yelling out the window the whole time before I got to a highway open enough to lose him. He even got out of his vehicle to approach me when we were both at a red light. I would say he was definitely drunk. We were both in a hardware store checkout line prior to all this and he was giving the cashier serious attitude. The saddest part was he had about a 10 year old boy with him. Can you even imagine being a kid in a car while your dad is trying to chase down another driver?

Yes Sir, Avoid at all cost !!!
I didn't work this shooting, but I knew both parties involved.
One was a court security-deputy sheriff, the other was a former constable.
The former constable, left behind a wife and three small children.
If you dig reading police reports, witness statements, etc..
Well here it is.

.
I did read the whole.

Imagine, for a second, if the other driver (Court Deputy) hadn't pulled up behind! Instead, just quietly drove by & went about his business of taking his wife to lunch.

The deceased (former Constable Bradshaw) pulled in behind Deputy Brown and his wife. I was a bit mixed up as to who shot who when I first looked at it too.

I was clear on who shot who, just not the position of the vehicles.
The deceased former constable had the opportunity to drive on by... ending what ever had transpired on the road.
The Court Deputy had not pulled into a normal parking space either... so hadn't "gone about his business" either.
What a mess.

I should have included a photo of the scene with my previous post.

Deputy Brown was driving the dark colored GMC....Bradshaw the white pickup.

It was a senseless thing. Both actors let their common sense escape themselves.

They could have just driven on and let it go. But no, they just couldn't do that.

Road Rage

I had almost the exact same thing happen to me a couple of years ago. I was really ticked off. When I finally pulled up along side the other vehicle, I saw some very elderly guy driving the car, totally oblivious to all that was around him. It seemed pretty obvious that he wasn't even aware of cutting me off.

You have to remember, some of these folks may not be able to see very well; they probably can't hear very well; they probably can't control their bladder half the time; they're taking at least 8-10 various medications, and they have to think twice about where they're going, because they keep forgetting. But, they obviously think they're okay...after all, they're still allowed to drive a car.:D

We need to remember that some elderly people are driving a car right now...and they don't even realize it.:) I guess I shouldn't make fun of these folks. I'll probably be in the same boat in a few years.

Unfortunately, this is very true, I surrendered my license a few years ago when I realized I shouldn't be driving. No incidents and no accidents, but I was was getting dangerous.
The sad situation is that many elderly people live alone and/or don't have any way to get to their Dr. appts or to the grocery store or shopping, the state does what it can in the way of providing these types of transportation but it frequently involves a wait time of an hour or more, so, (they feel) that their only recourse is to drive themselves. It's a sad situation, and, I don't have an answer.

Chip,
Ya know what those ladies at the home say,

"If he has a licence and a car...He's the man!
If he can still see to drive at nite...He's a Rock Star !!!"

I read the entire thing.
It's a great example of exactly why road rage is best avoided.
I pray to God that I NEVER have to shoot anyone.

As far as why road rash is best avoided: Google Images answers that question.
Unless you're one of us who've experienced road rash.
In that case, you have vivid memories of it.

Steering wheels make people stupid.

I've been a field service technician for well over 20 years.
I spend a LOT of time in traffic. I see a LOT of stupid and rude driving behavior.
I don't get angry about it because it's just not worth it.
Besides, I'm paid by the hour.:D

Do you have any bumper stickers or badges that could be considered politically provocative? I took mine off a while back to eliminate the possibility of attracting a negative reaction.[/QUOTE
Gee, does this one count?

That's a funny picture!

My only potentially provocative sticker is my FOP Supporter sticker.

I have found that when I carry, I am much more likely to let things slide. I am more aware I guess of how things could escalate.

Yes, now that I carry I have gotten much better at minding my own business. I have engaged a few crazy drivers with shaking fists and curses. Not any more.

Now minding my own business is my middle name.
