We are interested in possibly getting a Robot vacuum, and can't seem to get info on how thick of carpet they will handle. We have carpet about 3/4" thick pile. Could we expect any model to do a decent job so that we would only have to manual vacuum every several weeks?

Just wondering any good experience with them.

My wife bought one. Then her very old dog did not make it outside once and the robot vacuum smired it all over the floor. No more robot vacuum even though the dog has made its way to the giant dog park in the sky.
Exactly why I don't ever want one...
Not mine, but here's a good visual why.

We have had two and returned them both after a short time for a serious lack of performance on carpet shorter than what you have. I don’t think you will be pleased, but Costco’s generous return policy could let you try it.

What we found was the tiny little batteries cannot generate enough suction to do a really good job. The tiny little dust bin collector is too small to run for any length of time and really pick up a full vacuuming of our carpets. As well, we found that it spent a lot of time in some areas and not much in other areas, even though it is supposed to be fairly equal on a random basis.

The auto return to the charger did not always work when it returned from other rooms. That’s easy to understand but still not a selling point.

It will work fairly well on hard floors, as long as there are not too many obstacles (furniture legs) or obstructions (stairs, lamps, magazine racks, etc.) that block off numerous small areas.

It’s a fairly expensive toy that’s not really ready for prime time. You need very low expectations. It’s not a real vacuum.

mine kept setting the house alarm off.
now mind you I have a Dog that patrols
the house all night and only set the alarm
of once when she jumped against the window
because of new neighbor she was not use to...
..the robo vacuum set the alarm off every night
and various times...

I purchased Eufy made by Anker for like $170 and the damn think works. Spending $500+ on something like this is insane. It picks up dog hair, lint, debris and more. It's not going to be your primary cleaning. It's cleaning maintenance. I really like ours and it runs at 4am daily and we wake up to a clean home every morning.

We have, for 2 or 3 years now, a Shark model RV761RO1US. Love it.

We have hardwood and Berber carpet and a couple of large area rugs in the basement with 1/2” to 3/4” pile. Works like a champ on all of them. Never had a problem.

Ours will run 2.5 to 3 hours on a full charge.

Wife said to tell you best selection locally is Bed Bath and Beyond. They many times have on-line a 20% off coupon for these too.

I think you’d be pleased. I’m forever amazed at how much dirt mine picks up even if we run it weekly.
