3.5" barrel, Fiber optic front sight, 8+1
Does anyone have experience with this gun - if so, is it the exceptional firearm it is supposed to be? thanks

No, not with that gun.

I do have a 45ACP RIA M1911 A1 CS-Tactical. (ROCK Standard CS - 45 ACP | Armscor International, Inc)

It's 7 + 1 with the Armscor branded ACT-Mag. It does not have fiber optic. It has drift adjustable front and rear with white dots. The rear is Novak style. It's a parkerized all steel 3.5" Officers Model size.

Never having owned an Armscor gun before I was a bit skeptical. I loaded a large pile (500+) of standard to slightly hot (I don't have the recipe handy) loads using Phelps cast SWC plus I dug out 150+ of assorted factory rounds and took it to the range a few times. From brand new through all of those rounds not one malfunction of any kind. Not one. Accuracy was "good combat". I'm very impressed with the gun, especially at it's street price which I don't recall at the moment but it was very reasonable. It's currently $475 at Tombstone Tactical but I've never bought anything there.

I'm pretty sure the 9mm you're looking at will be good. However, if only giving up one round to go 45 ACP over the 9mm, I'd go 45. But whatever.

This is the RIA Tactical 9mm Compact. Not quite the same thing but pretty close. Great guns, I previously had a Compact 45 acp bought about 8-9 years ago and I had to improve the sights and fit a beavertail grip safety to it. Solid guns.

I have the 9mm RIA 1911-A1 Full size Tactical Nr. 51632. A good gun for the money. My Grandson polished the feed ramp and put on Hogue Finger Grip Wrap Around's. I really like it.
My grandson has the Compact 45 Standard and my great grandson has a full sized 9mm Standard. They also like them.
I got mine from G4G USA for $459.99 shipped. They are in Texas and are good to deal with and ship fast if in stock.

A good inexpensive gun, they get good reviews in the Colt forum too, fwiw.

I believe this is "my" gun

mine just chambered in 9mm-do you think it as accurate as a RIA with 5" barrel...and do you carry it?

The longer barrel should be a little more accurate but probably not so you'd notice. The longer sighting plane probably helps more. I'm one of those that for better or worse tends to switch guns fairly often. Yes, it's in my regular rotation. It is all steel so it's not the lightest possible carry if that's an issue.
