Root beer

Henry's WAS the best root beer on earth. I hadn't drank one in a couple of years until last month. Some bean counter thought it was a good idea to replace the cane sugar with HFCS. Now it tastes horrible.

You serious??? They replaced the sugar cane??? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! Tell me it ain't so!

Around here A&W Drive-In was a favorite teen hangout back in the 60s. We had one on each side of town, one in Texas, one in Arkansas. The only way I want root beer is A&W in a frosty mug, with a whistleburger and onion rings. Served on a tray, hanging from my side window. Nostalgia is a great flavor enhancer. We would hang out there every night, in our hot rods, waiting for a race, or a skirt to chase.

I'm afraid so. I tried to find an email address to send them a message with my displeasure, but had no luck. I figured I would drop too many f-bombs to call the number on the bottle.

Come on down to New Orleans and get you a 12 oz. Barq's.
The best root beer there is.

I found a few bottles of Henry's at the Specs near downtown (Houston). Unfortunately it indeed does have corn syrup instead of sugar cane. So I didn't buy them. Instead, upon other people's ravings, I decided to try a bottle of Virgil's. I'm hoping it's not good, because it is $5 per bottle!!! Is that a normal price for Virgil's?

I really love A & W, we have a little A & W diner nearby where they bring it out to you in a glass mug and put the tray on your window with your food. The way God intended food to be served.
