Up until this evening, I thought there was only one iteration of the current production rear sight with rounded tang. I picked up this rear sight at a local show to have as a spare. After I got it home, it didn’t take long to see something wasn’t right. I used a 3” 66-4 to model it. I’d appreciate any info. Thanks

J frame adjustable rear elevation screw forces the sight up. The long piece is a spring formed to force the sight down.

Definitely shortened.

And the screw hole has been countersunk for use of a flat head screw. Those are not used on S&W sights or any revolvers. The hole should be counterbored for use of the typical S&W cap screw.
