Rubber N frame round butt grips with open backstrap

I am looking for some help locating a rubber n frame grip with an open backstrap. I am aware of the hogues but I want a rubber grip I can modify at the bottom to be a boot grip, and obviously the hogues attach at the bottom and therefore can't be chopped there.

I have read that the older Pachmayr grippers were open on the backstrap. Is this true, and if so, is anyone willing to get rid of a pair? Can anyone recommend any other open backstrap rubber grip that would allow me to chop the bottom off even with the grip frame?

I THINK it was the Pachmayr PROFESSIONAL series that had the uncovered backstrap, but I could be wrong. I am not aware of any others but that doesn't mean there aren't any. I see them on EBAY all the time.

They had Grippers with exposed metal and I think they also had enclosed. I know they had both open and covered for K and L frame.

My L and N frames have the exposed type grippers. That type may be out of production. They have the finger groove type rubber. The professionals were the rubber version of target grips.

I got mine by rummaging in junk boxes in old timey gunshops, the ones that take trade ins and estate stuff. The N frame one I had to call Lyman, the current owners, and get a replacement threaded nut for the grip screw. Check out Lyman's website to see what current production looks like.
