A friend from years ago came into local gun shop with a SS 6" Ruger looked like a Security 6, target sights sort of a strange grip.....Great trigger for a ruger. revolver was factory engraved FBI National Academy..with other National Academy engravings. engravings were on the barrel and on side plate...357 Mag. , perfect shape.....We tried looking it up but all we could find was the 717 with special markings for some Police agency's.. Probably made in the 70's but that is a guess based on the fact it was awarded to a Military investigative office at the conclusion of his completion of the National Academy.....Anybody familier with this revolver and its actual designation...Driving us nuts as there seems to be no mention of the FBI model in the books.......Perfect un fired shape.....no machine marks and finish was well like the old days...Shurly somebody on this site has seen or has heard of this type of Ruger
obviously a presentation piece.......HELP !!!

I think I've seen these on both Ruger boards, but don't think they had any great value attached. You probably should ask at both of those boards. Members there probably have collector info.

BTW, someone asked at a Ruger board this week about the 1976 Bi-Centennial Rugers. The response was that so many were made that they don't have much added value over normal production from other years.

But they're sort of nice to have...

Google ''fbi national academy guns'' and you'll see a Sig and a Beretta for sale. Both are engraved FBI National Academy. Those commemorative pistols were offered to students at the school. A Beretta 92 purchased by a friend who went to the school came with a typical presentation box. The are nice momentos.
