So I went to pick up my Winchester 61 from the gunsmith yesterday (Winchester 61 see link) and I saw a takedown sitting in the glass case. I've been wanting a charger for some time, I have a buddy who loves his. I have yet to shoot it. Anyways they have a takedown with optics for $290 right now. I don't care for the color, I'd prefer black, and was leaning towards the standard, but was going to see if they would maybe order one, and sell it with an optic like the takedown they have. Traditionally the standard is bit cheaper too.

What is everyone's opinion, takedown vs standard?

Am lucky, have both. The take down is new to me , so am still playing with it. The non is a nail driver, have put the new trigger in it to make it even better and did the bubba grind so the bolt release it easier than messing with the bolt release lever. I have a handgun scope on the non and a rifle scope on the take down.

I'd just get the takedown model. I had one, it was nice, but I couldn't find a use for it and sold it. But the takedown does everything the standard does, plus fits in a smaller case.
