Ruger LCP 2

For what it's worth my local dealer requires professional training for all employees who carry in the store. He brings the trainers in or has them on payroll. Not long ago they had a .380 day where everyone fired every .380 in the inventory. After they finished he asked them to rate the guns. Every one put the LCP2 as first choice. Not a scientific test but pretty revealing. These guys shoot almost every day and handle guns all day long.

My practical experience with it is that the trigger disconnect snapped in half after 60 rounds of factory ball, brand new LCP 2.

I consider it a junk gun because of that, and would never trust it for defense. They keep making these guns cheaper and cheaper and cheaper every year, more little bits of plastic, more powdered pot metal, got to drive the bottom line and make the guns cheaper and cheaper, don’t you know.

They can keep them, and I will keep my J-frame.

I currently own an LCPII and combined with a Talon wallet holster I find it to be the perfect gun for when you can't carry a gun. I have something over 1000 rounds through mine and the only alterations have been a painted front sight. I spend most of my trigger time shooting at 30' and with practice, the gun is very controllable and accurate.

I bought the LCPII not long ago to add to my collection of 380s. Although I have only fired a few boxes of ammo through it, it's been 100% reliable, but so have my Bodyguard and RM380 which have several hundred more rounds through them. They all see range time once a month and usually get only 3 or 4 mags run through them during defensive scenario practice. Some say the LCPII's lighter, shorter trigger pull is superior, but during my practice I see no advantage to it. To tell the truth, I don't even notice the difference and all are on target (center mass) at 8-10 yards. I suppose if you fire 100+ rounds through them in a short time you'd start to feel it, but none are a range gun regardless of the triggers. For pocket carry I still prefer the Bodyguard with its long DA trigger pull and thin profile.

I just got back from the range w/my LCP2 and experienced another fail to extract, about 400 rounds w/repeated failures. Also, the lock open on the last round has been inconsistent. My next move is a call to Ruger.

What ammo were you shooting?

Take a look at the Remington RM380. One of the few metal .380s on the market, flawless double action, based on the Rorbaugh design, with a few improvements (magazine release and slide lock/release).

I have mine about a year, totally flawless operation, feels like a real gun in your hand and very pocketable, if that is your preference for carry.

That's funny.....Remington bought Rohrbaugh and cheapened the product

I've had both and recommend them. They are durable, dependable and
size makes them the best for most CCW people that aren't a gun nut. They are loud but so are the other little 380s. Have had no complaints on them.
