I knew that sooner or later Ruger would come out with a revolver to compete with S&Ws already well established 22 calibre revolvers. They'll probably come out with an LCR 327 Magnum next. The Shot Show is going to be interesting this January.

Yep, I just ordered one for 429.00 off of Guns America. Should be here just in time for Christmas!

If they can ever ship these, it will compete favorably with the 317(?) because it'll sell for about $200 less. Yippee!

Why does Ruger announce this stuff if they cannot ship it?

They can't ship their SP101 in .22LR and they can't ship this one either.

It's just silly.

Maybe that's why S&W doesn't announce any new products - because they cannot ship them either... Maybe the only way they can "sell" products like the 317, 617 etc is by charging $200 - $300 more than Ruger - because nobody buys them, that way they can meet the seriously lessened 'demand'? Hint, hint: higher prices equals lower demand equals ability to ship product!

It's not about price when buying new S&W, it's the darn lock that kills their sales. I've carried an LCR for two years and fired more then 300 rounds out of mine without issue. While I'm not a plastic gun fan they do make decent work guns.

I work in a LGS and get this question constantly. The answer is that companies advertise there products 6-12 months in advance. This guarantees them covering the cost of the initial production run before they ship any guns. The consumer is so excited to get the new X or Y that they will pay retail and sometimes higher prices. Good business for the manufacturers is all it is.

Check out Gun Broker, there are several of these already for sale. Ruger is very good at having guns already in the pipeline prior to announcing them. I'm sure these will be featured at the Shot Shot next month and here they are available prior to the show. That's one thing I'll give this company, they get there product out there faster than Smith & Wesson.

I consider buying one after the first recall is over. :)

Beat me to it. That was my policy on the LCP. :D

That said, I am going to be VERY tempted by the LCR in 22. I have been thinking hard about a 43C but I just can't get excited about it having an aluminum cylinder. Could be a very handy thing for working in the yard/ garden, fishing, etc.

Picked mine up within a week of announcement. Off the shelf at a local shop. Great little kit gun. Actually sold my 4" 34-1 after using the SP for a month or so.

I ordered mine from BW Outfitters in Adair IA on Saturday off Gunbroker out of frustration over awaiting the the S&W 43C (for almost two years now). I'm still waiting for their shipping confirmation, they have my credit card and FFL. Must be the Christmas rush, lady told me they are a lumberyard.
I didn't order it as a Xmas item. But the delay is strange, you order a lot of wood the week before Christmas?

Anyway, Merry Christmas to all board members and others.

We need some range reports now, let us know how they shoot.

Well ok then... The issue must be local to my area - because nobody has them in stock, has had any in stock, nor has any idea when they might get any. (either the SP101 or LCR22). They can put in an order (at full list price) and call me when it comes in.

+1 to those that said; "...I'll wait until after the first recall...". I mean it is Ruger after all.

My LGS has LCR 22s in stock for $409. He also has a 351C, and I think he got a 43C in but it's long gone.

Why do so many nice guns have to come along to try and take my money? :D

I just "buy it now" buttoned a 43C on gunbroker...I just also got my confirmation ship notification that the LCR22 is headed toward me...great now I'm in credit card debt.
Thank God I have a job, or, well, at least I had one when I came home today.
The LCR22 was 420.00 the Smith 599.00.

I know, I know, but the way their going with this gun I don't know if it will ever be available in quantities for a shorter price.

Here is my review of the LCR-22: Ruger LCR-22

Wonder how I got my 22 SP101 back in October if they can't ship them. Maybe it was hand carried to TX.
