The other say, I was at the range, and I was given what I think was a 9mm PC Ruger Carbine and a full clip to try out.

I shot it at 25 yards from a bench, but no sandbag. It shot OK, I put a clip full in a silver dollar size hole I want to say.

The 9mm was nice in a long gun, but the balance of the gun I thought was terrible. It was all forward weight, and front end heavy. The plastic butt stock was not enough to balance it.

Aside from that, it had a typical less than desirable trigger pull.

I just think it needs work. Anybody got experience with one of these?

I shoot the Ruger PC Carbine as my iron sights gun in Steel Challenge. It was the first firearm I ever made A on. I like it with very minor changes. I also shot one with an optic until I got the S&W FPC. The Ruger PC Carbine is very much a 10/22 bulked up for 9mm.

When I only had one Ruger PC Carbine I shot a major Steel Challenge match where I shot PCCO in the morning session, took the optic off and shot PCCI in the afternoon. Over 400 rounds as fast as I could shoot them with no stoppages

There is a guy on one of the Ruger forums who uses one for varmint control on his orchard.

I prefer the FPC because of it's lighter weight.

I had one for a minute. I sold it to help pay for a hefty vet bill, then the rascal passed on my Birthday anyhow.

It was really a pretty uninteresting firearm that yeilded no surprises. Kinda chunky. Trigger not amazing. But...very reasonable accuracy, unstoppable reliability, and a pretty great suppressor host. I did put it in a Magpul stock, which really did feel much better to me.

I see them at Steel challenges, ASI (On the rare carbine stages), leagues, etc. enough to have actually become a bit bored with them, and want something different in my next 9mm carbine. As a range toy, I can shoot for novelty for novelty's sake. If I were looking for a serious tool for business and a PCC was somehow the right answer...I'd be real comfortable with one of the little Rugers.

I love my PC carbine. Combat and varmint accurate and reliable. I put the Magpul Backpacker stock on mine which lightened it by .6 pound and really improved the way it feels.

I think Shrek of the Arctic described it best. I like mine because of the folding capability and 4' accuracy at 100 yards. It is too heavy, IMO, and I am glad it came with a Glock magazine well. I don't own a Glock 9 but you can find a bunch of inexpensive magazines for it. Mine wears a 4x Riton scope that is no longer cataloged by Riton but has a good field of view for the cartridge.

For a bullet caster it is a fun, inexpensive plinker with more power that a 22.

I had one, but it was stolen by my wife for her "house gun". It has a Sig Romeo5 on it, which makes it quick to shoot. After she stole mine, I had to go buy myself another one for myself. I set it up with the same Sig Romeo5 dot. MagPul makes inexpensive Glock magazines that are cheaper, and much better quality than the original Glock magazines.

The only drawback is they're heavy for what they are, and have a heavy trigger pull, but they're great little shooters. I did put a muzzle break on both of them which directs the noise away from the shooter.

The take down feature is nice for storing in a short case, and makes cleaning a breeze. I also have a couple AR's in 9x19, but it seems the PC carbine gets the most use. Neither of them have ever failed to function or fire in several thousand rounds, so reliability is a big factor in choosing them.

Hope this helps.

+1 for the Magpul stock; with a full magazine stored in it, balance is a lot better. I agree it's not an exceptional firearm, but it is reliable, fairly accurate, and fun to shoot. Since I own a Glock, the magazine interchangeability was a major selling point. mtgianni, I assume you meant 4 inch accuracy ;-).

I have one I don't shoot it n much I like it I just don't shoot rifles that much . Come to think of it I will take it up to oakhurst with me it's actually a really fun gun to shoot it is front heavy but being its a 9mm it's loads of fun to shoot I have a red dot on it

As others have noted the balance is poor and the trigger and accuracy are "meh" at best.

Still, the folding stock and over all small volume might be enough to offset the downsides for some people.

I'm not a fan of the recent Springfield Armory Kuna for similar ergonomic and balance issues. In both cases, that's a very subjective thing, so you really need to see for yourself.

I have a couple AR9s with ballistic advantage barrels. With 115 gr XTPs and HAPs they are both 5 shot group 1 minute of angle accurate. One has a 16" barrel and the other is an 8.3" SBR. Both have the discontinued Burris 332 and CQB reticle that has ideal hold points out to 200 yards.

But my favorite is my A2 stocked MP5. Smooth shooting, very reliable, very suppressor friendly without being front heavy, and accuracy around 2 MOA.

Can you guys expand on what makes the trigger so bad. In other places I'm reading that it comes with a 5 lb trigger out of the box. That doesn't sound too disastrous.

.
I enjoy the ringing the steel bells with both of mine and they ring all day long. The last time at the range with the PCC someone yelled out from the other end of the range 'nice shooting!". Both my early PC4 and later PCC are in .40. Also have a Ruger P94 which uses the same magazine as the PC4, not my favorite handgun, but the dual magazine swap is ok by me. The PCC uses Glock magazines and that works for me too.

I love my 40 ruger, very accurate and always works. Good truck gun for the ranch.

I wouldn't call it disastrous either. Mine has an even break but not a crisp one. It may improve with a lot of shooting or I might just get more used to it. IMO, it is much better than an SKS but not nearly as good as a bench rest target rifle. It just is a little different.

The RUGER seems very similar to the MARLIN RANCH CARBINE I had.
I went through a number of options - until I chose MY IDEAL Carbine in 9mm. They were very cheap 2 years ago, & are still reasonable. They are knock offs of the Swiss B&T our Military just bought - which sold me.
I have been TOTALLY satisfied with My 30 round, Slovakian STRIBOG braced pistol. It is very accurate & reliable.
