Ruger revolvers are ugly

I bought a mint condition 4" Blue 1973 Security Six at a pawnshop a couple of months ago for $314. I thought it was a really cool gun but I already have a 4" M66 and didn't need two .357s so I was thinking about getting rid of the Smith and Wesson. I have had many, many Smiths and thought I would try a Ruger for a while, which incidentally had a really smooth trigger. I held the two guns side by side, thought about it, ....then put the Ruger for sale on Armslist!

I like all the Ruger revolvers, especially the single actions. But, if I can't afford one, it's just ugly.

Ruger revolvers have "functional beauty."

I especially like the new GP100 with a 3" barrel, fixed sights, and minimal markings on it (Ruger has finally stopped printing the user's manual on the gun.)

Ruger revolvers have served me well for over 40+ years now. I'd still be with ruger if they still offered the redhawk in 357mag & 41mag. Thanks ruger for pushing me into S&w n frame revolvers s&w wins. Ruger loses. I love my s&w revolvers. Is it ok for me a grown man to say that? Bill

Just watch the Tales of the Gun s&w story. To me it's about being able to own, to touch and shoot a piece of history. No other gun manufacturer has done more for the development for guns than s&w.
Just look at the brass case which is our self contained ammo still used today, the volcanic lever action which became the Henry rifle etc.
Everything we see from the beginning of s&w is into the modern S&W guns of today.

That tales of the Gun episode is great... I bought the DVD. Until I watched it, I had no idea that Henry and what would go on to be come the Winchester lever actions, all owe their lineage to the Volcanic... which even looks like a miniature Henry.

it kind of galls me always hearing about how Colt is "the gun that won the West" when S&W was no slouch either.

Not all of them. I think the SBH is a right handsome revolver, especially the older 3 screws.

But the SRH always makes me think of something Soviet era peasants would cobble together after a bad wodka bender...

Ya they look a little weird. I got an old model SBH with dragoon grips, and think it is fine looking.

I think the little SP is quite handsome.

Also one of the first Super Redhawks with the scope that pretties it up.

I think Ruger's are like what Walt Whitman said about Lincoln, " so awful ugly it becomes beautiful"......

Yep, you're right. They aren't pretty. But, by golly, they sure as heck get the job done! :)

They is Rugly.

Dump trucks; but they work.

I am still sore about ol' Bill R selling out Second Amendment supporters, but since he has gone toes up at least the company is now selling high(er) capacity magazines to the public, although they are still expensive and hard to find (I am told).

Just wondering; are there posts on the Ruger site about how beautiful S&W revolvers are? If Rugers are so hot, why do folks have to crow about them here? Why not go over the the brand X site and wallow in the Ruger glory?
