Sold off my Springfield Armory NM 1911 about 15 years ago when I was over the edge with the Harley. The one gun sale that brings me to tears to this day. Anyways I wanted another 1911 for SHTF and didn't want to spend a boat load. Bought the SR1911 right after they were introduced on an LE special for $550 otd. Ridiculous state regs require heavy trigger pulls on all handguns to qualify for import. When I got the Ruger it was 8+ pounds and gritty so off to Clark Custom Guns in Louisiana for a trigger job. Had the front strap checkered while there but no other accuracy work. Trigger was crisp 3 1/2 lbs when I got it back. Have since added several Wilson "bullet proof" parts.
Day off today and me and a buddy hit the range. Hadn't had the Ruger out in a long time so it came along. Had a 50 box of new Starline brass, 230 ball Winchester and 6.0 grains of Unique. Shot 25 at the paper (30 feet, modified Weaver hold) and then switched over to the steel plates. A couple fliers on me. Ya...I know it's not a Colt or a Springer but hey it works. Just beat the rain. It was a good day.
