The RK over in Radford was selling M&P-15s for $500 NIB.

They have an on-line site where you can order and then pick up your gun at the store. Gun Store : Shop for and Buy Guns Online : RK Guns

Shipping is a flat $9.99.

Not a place to find old Smiths, but a lot of good prices on mass market stuff. They will be competition down here for Dick's, Wally World, etc.

Great farm store. I've got a RK about 3 miles from me and it's in an old Kmart. Great selection of auto supplies and pet supplies. Our store fills the whole K-mart and rumor has it that they are going to expand into the Kroger store next door when Kr moves into a new store.

Gun dept is good in the store and online you can get everything. They do have a company rule that any new gun must leave the store in a locked box and they will be happy to sell you one if you don't bring one with you. It may have changed but during the ammo panic they walked you to the front door when you bought ammo. Before the panic they kept the shelves stocked with Federal value pak .22s for around $15 everyday.

Hey, they’re presently gutting our former Kmart. I wonder if it’s gonna be a rural king too? I was looking on their website awhile back and saw they had new mini-14s and mini-30s at better than some used prices I’ve seen.

They tend to buy empty buildings, then tend not to clean too often. They have good prices on new guns and ammo. Use to have really good prices on car tires, oil, batteries, etc.

In my limited experience with their gun dept, the clerk was way less than competent.

The Rural King near me has an unremarkable gun department, just the basic new stuff. On the other hand, I do like the store. Where else can you buy a 5 gallon bucket of hydraulic fluid, a pair of Wranglers, an M&P 40, a Stihl chainsaw, and big ol' bag of dog food? At least in Central Ohio, I can't think of anywhere else.

Back in my college days, there was a store in Opelika, Alabama that developed into a great place to shop. Story's Grocery had a few rifles and shotguns on a rack. One of the employee's talked the owner into expending. They soon were carrying handguns, knives and reloading gear. They also added an auto parts section.

Their hours were 5AM to midnight. Where could you go and buy a S&W Highway Patrolman, a can of Unique, a muffler for your truck and Vienna sausages and crackers at 11:45 PM? :)

THE MONOPOLY ON BUYING OLD K-MARTS???

Similar corporate policies like carrying your firearm outside the store. Imagine the love child of Dicks/Walmart/Tractor supply. Ours was a former K-M as well.

I recently bought a shotgun at Scheels and an employee carried it out. I told him I thought this odd as I was carrying a concealed weapon. He just laughed and said "We hear that all the time."

Our farm stores here are Big R's or one called Blanes F & F it doesn't carry guns but has some ammo mainly shot gun shells ..

The Big R store has hand some pretty good sales on S&W pistols both autos and revolvers .. over all not a bad collection of pistols for the size of the stores and a very good variety of 223/556 and 22 and shot gun shells ..

Several Rural Kings in south Indiana and Illinois. I love them for all the seasonal stuff they sell. Garden stuff, flowers, and trees, bedding stuff, you name it. Lots of animal stuff from baby chicks and ducks, dog food and supplies. auto, farm, lawn and garden , huge Echo dealers. Clothes, some food, and guns, ammo, jerky equipment, smokers; you get the picture. They run some fantastic safes on sale, every Christmas season. No used guns, only new. Also you can take your dog in on a leash, and they have free popcorn to eat!!!!!!!

Our Rural King was a victim of there own success. Opened about 5 years ago and our local community embraced them completely. Business boomed. About 2 years ago Menards came to town about 3 miles from RK. Several of the core RK employees moved to Menards and for about a year RK was in disarray. They have since regrouped and are doing great again and so is Menards.

If I'm after something specific I go to Menards, if I want to browse and see be entertained I go to Rural King. Nothing is perfect but the RK team tries hard and they sure fill a need in my community.
