I live about 15 miles from Gunsmoke and saw one there in the case without giving it a second glance. As I recall they didn't have a price tag on it. I didn't know if it was something they did there in the shop, or what.

I was there to inquire about having some work done on my Series '70 Colt. They said the wait time was about a year, so I didn't leave it. This was just before the break-in and the visit from the IRS. I'm glad I didn't leave it.

Hi all! I recently grabbed one of these, got a great deal from gunbroker (paid right under 500 for the gun and shipping) have wanted a J frame for a while, we had one in the shop and it sold quick, I had a chance to compare it with a standard 637 as well as the TALO 637 PC version. The action was very slick compared to the standard and I could not tell a difference from the gunsmoke PC one and the TALO PC one. I changed the grips, not a fan of the clip grip, and off I went. I am very happy with it, and though the logos are tacky, it still is pretty cool to me! The polished flutes look very good to me! Have a little over 100 rounds through it and will post progress as time goes on!

Well congratulations on your purchase, Georgiat01336!!! I just picked one up today. Bought some striped G10 grips for it and hope to shoot it next weekend. Call it cheesy or whatever you want, I liked the looks of it (I like "bling" guns)

Showed it to my best friend and now she wants one too!!

Oh I would prefer the logo not be there at all, those Gunsmoke guys are a bunch of jerks. I just liked the overall look of the polished flutes/trigger/bobbed hammer and cylinder release...like I said "bling" (although subdued compared to some revolvers that are polished/engraved, etc). The extra cost was minimal to me/not a factor as I buy what I like, period. And I don't send out my guns for work by well known gunsmiths (which "might" be cheaper and done better, don't know). Heck the grips were $89 locally (although on the internet they are $75 directly from VZ) and any other cheaper pair would have worked just as good I suppose. But I wanted THOSE grips. I also bought a M60 Pro and a 686 3-5-7 (both 3" barrels) and paid a premium for those models but again, it's what I wanted.

Guess that's why S&W produces so many different models/configurations. Trust me, I know a normal production gun would function and serve me just as well.

Oh......yes, the action is smooth with a light trigger pull.......really nice. That's what sold my neighbor.

I'm curious why you say that, this is a performance center gun, a hundred dollars more for a action job, polished flutes, and polished trigger is a steal. What's the cost to send a 637 to smith and have that done? Please do not take this as an attack, I am by no means an expert, but have had the chance to shoot quite a few very nice PC guns. The action on this one is no different from those. Is this one missing something? There is more done to this version compared to the TALO PC 637 right? Why would someone not want a smooth double action job done on a carry gun?

Bought one at a local Gunshow. A great dealer that i've previously dealt with. GOOD PRICE OTD.
Never even heard of the show. Think "Reality TV" is a big evolutionary step down. Also believe it fits the basic idea of "BREAD & CIRCUS"!!!
However, the Firearm is beautiful. Felt fantastic in the hand. Trigger was smooth, light, without stacking, & a fairly crisp release.
Never been into bobbed hammers... But, this one
Plus... I just plain got a thing for snubby "J" Frames.
Very happy with it. However, i'm looking for wood grips.

After having Airweights with standard and polished triggers, I have to say I like the standard trigger best. I find the polished and rounded triggers pinch my trigger finger much worse than with the standard trigger.

Thankfully I've never had a gun that pinched my trigger finger so I haven't ever given any thought about polished/rounded triggers. For the first 35 or so years of my shooting life I was only a semi-auto handgun owner to revolvers are something a bit new to me. This is the only revolver I have with a polished trigger so I'll see how it does at the range.

The more I look at this "Wyatt" 637, the more I like it. Not the fluff (logos) but the bobbed hammer & clip-grips. The one I handled at the LGS had a very nice trigger. For some reason, the ugly-to-me modern IL frame is not so ugly when the hammer is bobbed off. Of course, I'd rather have one of my vintage bobbed Chiefs (like this flat-latch airweight) but that's just me.

Saw one today at the LGS and had no idea what the Wyatt thing meant. My wife and I handled 4 other revolvers and I didn't even touch that one. I don't even remember the price. I was thinking Wyatt Earp .. I knew of some other fake scripted shows and if I knew the Wyatt was one of those I would have hated it even more. We were looking for a gun for my wife but she prefers a hammered 38. I actually do like bling and the latest features, but I detest fake scripted 'reality' shows. And yes, they ALL are fake except for 'Cops', every towing, repo, auction, messy house, creature catcher, bride, gun building, fix my house, cook your food, hoarding, prepping, car fixing, bike building, ( I probably forgot 10 ) are FAKE! Except for Cops. Every last one of them, and I hate them.

I live in Colorado and have been into the Gunsmoke store a couple of times. The guys in there have been jerks, offering very low price for trades (I saw a guy offered $175 for a mint 92fs), and really jacking up prices on used guns. If they've got a used gun for sale it's a "rare and valuable variant" and if they are buying used guns they are "problematic and everywhere".

I've never bought or sold anything there to be fair, but google around to see some of their unethical business practices. All that said, I'd never want anything associated with their name. I read of a guy who had a little bit of work done on his custom blank slide 1911, and after getting it back it had a large "gunsmoke" logo etched onto the slide. When he demanded it be fixed they told him to talk to their lawyer.

They sound like a real low rent group. Sad to see this happening more these days. 10, 20, 30 years ago EVERYONE was stand up people. There have always been characters but not the dishonest, unethical stuff you see these days.

Have a number of five screws and Triple locks,but the little Deep Cover tickled me for 500 bucks! Great for its purpose. Still like a 40 or 45 auto for real !! Or a 4 inch .44 special on the hip! Have a mint Pre 21 4 inch, may sell but its spendy.

Interesting to hear that about Wyatt. I never cared for him in that show, he always seemed to be portraying his staff as idiots who couldn't get dressed without him. I did like seeing his wife though!

Just for the heck of it I swapped out my VZ grips with some wood grips made for the Pro Series Model 60 (I wanted some S&W factory wood grips which is why I went with the Pro Series). I like the way they look and feel........but of course they are a little longer than the VZs since they give your pinkie finger something to grip. They do not have the extreme texture that the VZ grips have which is one thing I do like about the VZs.

Have you tried uncle mike boots? Lots of people don't like rubber aka "goodyear" grips, but for me the UM boots fit my hand best of all the RB j-frame grips I've tried. Long discontinued, but S&W still has some in their online store (listed under "closeouts") for $14.95. Black grips oa silver gun look good IMHO.

Not meaning to revive this ugly head again but I just saw one in a gunstore here for over $600+-no thanks. I was thinking about all the problems the namesake in having with the famous gov't agency, having their show pulled etc and wondering if S&W will pull the plug on the firearm itself after a few runs.

So what's one more S&W safe queen on a spec with an acquisition at sub 500. We will see down the road but I think I am pretty safe at that price.Can't be any worse that the market at 15000+. My gut tells me that it won't be offered much longer. For what its worth I have seen far better small carries. Love my 36 no dash!

IMHO the value of a 637 "Wyatt" is and will be as a handy little concealed carry gun. I don't now the numbers but I believe the factory made quite a few of them, so I doubt they will ever have much value as a collector's item.
