Uh-oh, I looked at an S&W 1911 PC today and it had the lightest trigger pull I have ever seen on a 1911 type. This means I will probably wind up buying it.
I just read a post from a couple of weeks ago about various opinions on the 1911's out there and the information was very helpful. I have been looking at Kimbers, Springfields, D.Wessons and used 70 series Colts. The only must for me is a good trigger and target(adjustable) sights; I have a 4506-1 and the external extractor works fine for me. The D.Wesson I tried also had a very nice trigger, but I worry about the future of the brand and parts availability.

Any opinions on the S&W 1911 PC? I really like my 4506, but am ready to move up to a match grade pistol. I am just an informal shooter and do not shoot competitively so don't need a Les Bear or something at that level.

Thanks, Willyboy.

If I wanted another $2000.00+ single stack 1911 I would look around first.....

At 2000.00 + price range there are some really nice new guns.
( Les Baer is one of them).

Also You can get a really nice used custom pistol build on Series 70 colt. ( would be my choice)

PS. LOVE MY 4506-1'S!!!!!!

I have one and love it. I think its the best 1911 for the money. The only gripe I had about mine was the trigger fit was very sloppy in the frame. I fitted a new one (Wilson Combat Match Ultralight) and now its spot on - TP is 2.5 lb and crisp. I also installed Wilson Combat extended slide and magazine releases and an S&A arched MSH with a mag well. BTW you didn't mention if the gun was new or used. I bought mine used for $1600 with two magazines, PC case and papers.

I wouldn't spend $2000 on a 1911 just because of the trigger. I can do my own trigger job and have whatever trigger I want, for free using the existing parts. Even if you have to buy drop in parts or send to a smith, the price tag will still be far less if the trigger is your deciding factor.

For that kind of money, look into a Colt. The pony will hold it's value better in the long run, and Colt makes excellent 1911s. You could also get a Springer TRP or Trophy Match for less than the SW1911 PC.

To clarify, the S&W 1911 PC is a new pistol at a large shop that is discounted to about $1425. I do want to stay $1500 or less OTD. Thanks for the feedback so far.

dang id buy it for 1425 without thinking.i really like sw performance center 1911's.

i saw a baer at a gun show and the hammer had rust on it, they wanted like 2500 for it.lol

Well that price is much more reasonable that what I have seen these priced at. I would still urge you to shop around, you there are many excellent 1911s to choose from with a budget of $1500. But if the SW1911PC will make you happy, and has all the features you want out of the box, I would certainly endorse the purchase.

I had a PC1911; I sold it. At that sub-$1500 price point, I would encourage you to look at the Dan Wesson line.

If you can pick up a PC for under 1500 bucks RUN to the shop to get it.

I think the PC 1911s are every bit as good as the Baers, Browns, some Wilsons, RRAs, etc.

I speak from experience.

They are GREAT shooters.

I've shot Baer pistols, they're OK. Triggers aren't all that great straight from the factory. I'd put a Smith 1911 PC in the same category as a Baer or Springfield Custom Shop. Kimber nor Colt makes anything to compare to those 3.

I concur... :) I'd take the PC Smith all day long. There's no better company to deal with. I have several Pro and PC guns, they've been flawless. I can't imagine what can a $3000 gun do that a $2000 gun can't.. status symble, that's about it.

SW1911PC

Just got mine for just under $1300 NIB.

There's a local guy to me selling a brandy new commander size for $1400, he just bought it... still a little too much for me at the moment considering I just put an MP40c on layaway...

Nice shooting.

Results from yesterday's shooting.
