How common or uncommon is a S&W Pre-Model 22 in .45 Colt?????? Came across one Serial# S87xxx. What kind of value might it have. Would rate a 98++++%. Correct diamond grips, no box, papers, tools.

Per the book by Roy Jinks, S&W chambered 203 of these revolvers in 45 Colt. I would guess $4,000 is a good place to start for one that is 98 percent or better and all original.

How would the barrel be marked on this revolver??? .45 Colt or 45 Cal of 1950?????????

Any Smith from the factory in 45 Colt is a rare and desirable gun.
The aftermarket re- calibered guns vary from extremely desirable
Custom guns all the way down to avoid at all costs.

Hi
Here is a picture of the barrel if it does not look like this it is not correct.
I have the only one made with a extra cly in 45 acp.
