Trying to figure out the year of my S&W .22 revolver inherited from my father. Thank you

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Your K-22 Masterpiece, Pre-Model 17 was made in 1956.

The “3 8 (?)” stamps on the bottom of the grip panels is a little odd, and would not have come from the factory that way. Maybe an inventory number? There was also a similar .22 revolver but with a 4” barrel called the “.22 Combat Masterpiece.”

Give it a good thorough cleaning and it will be ready for another 70 years of use.
