Picked up a 22A 5.5 yesterday and added a red dot..Took it to range today and sighted it in at 25 yards...Headed to wood to shoot a tree rat...I usually use my K-22 with a 6" barrel....Thought about getting the 7" version but my friend talked me into the 5.5 as he brags it is a tack driver...

I was amazed to see how accurate the 22A is and feed flawlessly!....Great weapon system!

I bought one in 5.5 and I also think they are a very accurate pistol. I have liked mine fine so far. Now if I could get it back from loan to grandson.:D

Had my 22a for almost two years now. Awesome little gun. I have the 7 inch version. It is way more better than I am in the shooting area. I think mine is a mini rifle. Awesome gun to play around with.

I put a Sightmark reflex sight on my 22a. Now to get get it dialed in and test it on some tree rats.

I have a 5-1/2" Talo edition and my only gripe was with the magazines - that sharp-edged stub with which you lower the follower is downright painful to use. An Adco Super Thumb fixes that problem but a quality gun like a Smith & Wesson shouldn't require such things in order to be used comfortably.

Otherwise, I love the gun and find it as accurate as my old High Standard SuperMatic Trophy - those guns were THE bullseye gun back in the day and still are if/when you can find one in good condition.

I bought my 22A back in 2002 for about $220.00 NIB. Had some feeding issues at 1st but when it was broken in a bit I seldom have any problems. I have friends that have much more expensive 22 autos that only eat certain kinds of ammo. My 22A will eat and cycle any kind of cheap or expensive ammo.
The trigger is amazingly light! When transitioning to it after shooting my bigger calibers I have to be kinda careful with trigger pull. I love plinking with it.

Cabalas had on sale a "BSA Red Dot Multi-Recticle Sight" Marked from 79.99 to 24.99 and free shipping....Works great of the 22A...

I noticed the mag load grip issue also. I had some old Kydex from molding some holsters. Made a small piece that would slide over the top of the mag and depress the spring for loading. Saves the fingers!

Any idea how many rounds you fired in that pistol , any ware to the frame , and is the gun still tight.

The 22A is definitely a great pistol, accurate, easily field stripped for cleaning with simple barrel replacement, etc., but I really never thought of it as a "weapon system" for a squirrel.

Isn't it amazing how the "tactical terminology" has become an almost standard part of the lexicon of ordinary folks? :)

Has anyone used this new deer hunter's "assaulter's kit?"

"Modern Sporting Rifles" like that are not legal for any kind of hunting in Pennsylvania. Rifles and handguns must be manually operated but shotguns not used for big game can be autoloaders.

Not sure how many rounds I have put through it, probably somewhere 500 to 1,000. As I said, it required a bit of a break in period but works (almost) perfectly now.I haven't notice any major wear anywhere and it still seams quite tight. It gets cleaned, oiled and stored away every time I use it.
I have spent much time (until I figured out what I was doing wrong) looking for the little plastic spacer and spring. They popped out while cleaning several times and went in separate directions! I ordered extra spacers from S & W just in case.
The trigger is almost dangerously light but I like it!

I purchased one the first year of production.
I was shocked to see how poorly built it was upon disassembly.
Easily S&W's low water mark or maybe a tie with the M&P 22 for that honor.
Gave it to my BIL. It shoots good and he likes it.

I see your still around Bashing Products, by the way how much did you charge your BIL LOL.

It shoots good, but you didn't like what it looked like "upon disassembly?"

I don't really understand exactly what would make you happy, so I would appreciate knowing what you mean or what it would have taken to make you happy with that 22A.

Hi Shawn this guy was on another forum I am a member of and trust me when I say all he does is Bash products , but at the same time he sell those product out of his Pawn Shop ,all Ican say id that his BIL got a super nice plinker that shoots just great.

I bought a 22A - still haven't received it yet. I've read that it's "picky" on ammo and will only feed High Velocity without jamming. Is that an accurate statement? What kind of ammo are you all using that works well?

I've never heard that but that doesn't mean it can't be true. I've only used CCI MiniMags in mine as they have been the most accurate in my S&W 617s and my Advantage Arms conversion kit for my 1911s.

I have 2 of the 22a pistols and all I ever used in them was any HV ammo I could find, my pistol even cycle hollow points with no problem, hope this helps.

My 22A will eat any kind of ammo I have fed it. As stated in a earlier post, my 22A required some break in time to be as reliable as it is today. At first I had some stove pipes and misfires. I have friends that have much more expensive 22 autos that are very picky. The trigger is lighter than on any of my center fire automatic pistols.
You will probably like your new gun very much.

The 22A shoots just fine and at the price I paid I shouldn't have expected more, but, I'm a big S&W fan and own / have owned dozens of their products.
I found the internal construction to be crude at best compared to what I've become accustomed to from S&W.
For the market it was designed to compete in it is relevant, but I'm not a buyer in that market.
I guess I was hoping for something for nothing (I only paid $179 for my 22A).
Like I said, I gifted it to my BIL and he shoots and enjoys it.
It has never broken.
