Ordered 4 25 round mags from S&W in January and they said they were in stock. Its been awhile and I was wondering if anyone that ordered about that time is seeing delivery?

I must admit that I am not happy with S&W. I do realize these ARE troubled times, but I do expect more from S&W than they are giving us.

At a LGS was told about the Plinker Tactical Mags. Ordered a couple and they were at my door in a few days. Guess that doesn't matter as my experiece with them has been awful. It has been very difficult to get either to feed the first round from an open bolt and then I have been fortunate to be able to fire two rounds in a row. Tried to contact them with no response at all so far?

If you ordered the S&W mags, I hope you got them!

If you have some Plinker Tactical Mags, I hope they work better for you than they have for me.

UPDATE: 2/8/13

Still no mags for S&W and I am still unhappy about that!
I failed to mention that I ordered 2 mags from ProMag and they said they were in stock and accepted the order JUST LIKE S&W. They are not here and I am still waiting. They are going the same route as S&W, I guess?

However, I did call Plinker Tactical and told them how badly their mags performed for me. They were very nice and responsive and promised to ship me out replacements on Monday. She said they would send their newest model and asked that I return the bad ones so they could see why they didn't work. They seemed to really care and be trying to do the right thing.

That is all!

I called S&W and asked about them yesterday and I was told 14-16 weeks before they are available FWIW.

SMH. Ordered on 12-28 when in stock, just one email saying who knows when. I've never got through on the phone.

ive had the same issue as you guys with getting a hold of mags. my cousin was told by smith and wesson that mags would be available this month but that seems to be false. Are they really banning high capacity? ive heard some rumors but nothing definitive?

They face a tall order if they want to get that passed. Only places you will see it fast is in the other mob legislation states like NY. They will be fast to ban, but nothing on the federal level will go to a vote immediately. Too many dems up for re-election in conservative states. I would keep the S&W order open but continue to look on here for mag availability elsewhere, and grab the 35-rd promags if you can. They are a great substitute, and you will find some actually prefer them over the S&W. Anyone who thinks bans are coming sooner than later are misinformed.

This is just a temporary scare tactic. Cuomo likes to think he is "GOD", and a trend setter, but he will soon be put in his place by the feds.

Just got the funniest message form S&W CS. "Magazines are on back order, goodbye", disconnect. Just a great company .

I find it very interesting that S&W can find magazines to ship with their guns but can't seem to fulfill orders from the last 2 months. I got 5 long 10 rnd mags from G an R and I ordered promag mags. If you really want the 25 rnd mag then go with promag and you get 7 more rnds with each mag. I had an order into S&W for 5 long 10s. I just cancelled today as I feel that I have enough mags. If I need any more, I will order from promag. I used to work in a manufacturing plant and I know the game they are playing. I have a lot of patience, but I am done waiting on them. They just lost my business as far as the magazine game goes.

No company is going to short an essential item from production to satisfy spare parts demands.

I understand both sides of the equation here.

I really do think S&W could be managing the situation much better by putting up a statement on the Webpage/Homepage stating they know they are hugely backordered... I understand they must have mags to ship with the firearms they are selling... but IF... you don't get out in front of the PROBLEM... then you are only making your end consumer mad (US)... hence, the predicament they are in NOW.!!!!!

I understand that they are not shorting their supply for the new manufacture of guns, but they could issue a statement saying they are working on the problem and all backorders would be honored up until the date of if/when any alleged mag ban may go into effect. And they would be filling the backorders as soon as they can. That kind of statement would go a long way towards eliminating any speculation from any of us.

Point of clarification: So are you saying that they will be allowed to fill all existing and outstanding orders even post-ban date should such a ban occur? Yes or no.

I can't imagine that they would even be able to, though any ban date, should it even happen, should be several months out even after the final vote if history holds true as with most new laws.

Thanks!

In the past they could but who knows what the current administration could try.

The more we learn the more it's clear that any federal legislation regarding firearms is going to take a while. While I doubt it's going to fade away, I think there is certainly plenty of time for companies like S&W to fulfill their backorders.

That being said, it appears they aren't banging the magazines out like Magpul is. In fact, it almost looks like they're in no real rush at all to make anything other than the long 10 rounders.

Sorry guys I accidently posted my answer in the wrong thread. OOPs. I just think that S&W could issue a statement about the backorder situation. I would think that all orders that were placed and accepted by the company and then backordered should be honored. Right now, everyone is wondering what they are going to do. Maybe S&W honestly doesn"t know either. Either way the company should put a statement out about it. It would go a long way toward helping ease most of the customers concerns.

S&W does not manufacture the magazines. They are made by one of the companies that make OEM magazines. One unconfirmed rumor is that it is the same company making MagPul magazines.

It is not just S&W not shipping parts. I am waiting on a pair of mags for my Ruger SR9C for 2 months now.
