I have a S&W 28-2 highway patrolman that needs a hammer nose bushing. No one even lists the model for parts. Any help is appreciated

Its a hammer nose bushing. It stops hammer from going to far into primer. It is staked into frame.

The bushing takes special tooling to install.
I have a 29-2 at S&W for this very job.
Been there since may of last year, still waiting.
If you want it in your lifetime, Contact these guys, a S&W warranty/service station:

Thanks for info. I will contact them and let you know.

That part number is for a Model 28, The 28-2 has a larger bushing. Thanks for the info
Copy that. Sorry I'm batting zero here. Numrich is usually the go-to place for older S&W parts; I'm baffled they don't have a specific page for the 28-2, given its ubiquity.

If you have the means to install the bushing, or a gunsmith that can install it, try S&W customer service 1-800-331-0852. Be prepared to wait on hold for a long time.
Also, try Jack First (605) 343-9544.
Good luck,
George

Welcome to the Forum, Dave! If you can, would you mind posting some pictures of the gun and the damaged area? I'm just curious what might have created the need to replace both these parts.....

Customer was having stiff trigger problems, someone told him to dry fire firearm a lot and problem should clear up. When it was brought to me, I found a thorough cleaning cleared up problems. But Bushing hole was oblong letting hammer, and firing pin go into primer to far and causing problems.

Tried Smith & Wesson, They want the firearm sent to them, for Inspection and service. Ir would be there over 6 months and no guarantee on if they would repair it. I heard stories that sometimes guns never make it out of there repair shop.
