I'm not having much luck with the search feature so I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times.

I picked up a S&W 31-1 2" in .32 S&W today for $250-. It's in nice shape but has a couple of cosmetic issues that bring it to 80%+ condition. Action is tight like a new gun, serial number 794XXX.

Is this anything special or just a nice shooter? Did I do OK on the price?

For me ALL the little S&W .32's are special! I just seem to love them. I don't see them too often so I can't help too much with the price, but the last one I saw, at a gun show, in very good condition, was $325.

Post a picture if you get a chance.

I saw one just like you bought yesterday. It was $399.99, no box or papers. I think you did good.

You did real good thats an excellent price for that little shooter, i have the 31-1 in 3" and it's a perfect range gun, have fun and enjoy.

Thanks guys, sounds like I paid a fair price. Forgot to post pictures! Looks like something was spilled on a few areas of the gun, the finish is there but faded.

I'd say that is pretty deal. That looks similar to one I passed up in my local gun shop. It's in better condition than yours and has been sitting there for almost a year. They want $375...

Very tempting, but I'm trying to force myself to stay in the .22LR and 9mm universe.

It looks a bit better than 80% to me. In early 90's dollars I paid 250 for a 30-1 round butt cousin. Mine is in slightly better condition but not much. I felt like that was a decent then and would be even better now. Ya done good!

They are really fun guns to shoot. The .32 S&W Long revolvers can be finicky with various ammo but when you find the right load for your gun they are very accurate indeed . . . and arguably the most fun center fire revolver caliber one can shoot!

I miss my own 4" 31-1 that I traded away for a M36 a couple or three years ago, but have a S&W Model 1903 lined up finally to take its place . . . and I think it will satisfy the urge.

Enjoy!

I bought a 31-1 with a 4" barrel in 1995 for $225. It is in better shape then yours, but I think you did really well on the price.

I have shot Remington, Fiocchi and Magtech through mine and and all loads are very accurate. They are really fun to shoot.
