I am thinking of selling my S&W 3906,stainless steel, matte finish, but I haven't been able to determine a price based on recently sold 3906's. There does not seem to be any available. It is in excellent shape say 95 of 100. I base that rating on two small cosmetic issues: a mar on the right side of the trigger guard and a nick on the left side of front edge of the frame. I believe both of these blemishes are correctable. It is a great shooter. Recoil is marginal, hence followup shots are fast and accurate. The trigger in sa is incredibly short and breaks as clean as my PPQ. Double action does not seem to be heavier than my Sig that makes it average for da. adjustable rear sight and novak style up front, two 8 rnd mags go with it. No box or papers. Any thoughts regarding an asking price, or comments about the 3906 would be appreciated.

Depending on where you live id say 4-600. Averaging around $500. If I saw it at a lgs for $495 or under id nab it

<$500 for the specimen you describe should be appropriate. Keep shipping and FFL costs in the equation if selling out of state or remote within your state of residence.

I think you could get $500 for it, easy, in the WTS section. 3906s don't come up for sale much, and there are always a few people here saying that they want one.

Here's why

I'm sure you will have no problem selling a 3906 but I have to ask why?? It's not a gun that you will find easy to replace should you realize your mistake.

I'll try to be concise. I have guns. They need to be handled, fired, maintained. I rotate a couple for EDC. I use those and a couple of others for range purposes. What do I do with the other's? Time is running out for me, I am not willing to let my "stash" go into my estate and be given away or liquidated en masse.. My plan is to sell the ones I rarely use and take the cash and spend it on wiskey and women, or waste the money away. A couple of 9mm 1911's are next. After them we will see. Thanks for a thoughtful question. I hope this answers in kind

I saw one last weekend at a gun show for $450. No box, 1 magazine, slight wear marks but no major blemishes. It had the fixed sight versus the adjustable sight.

I agree on the $450-$500 value and your life view. We really don't own anything, we are just renting it for a time until it passes on to the next owner (unless you destroy/wear it out). You can't take it with you, and we've all heard the stories of relatives liquidating gun collections for pennies on the dollar.
I too have decided to start getting rid of many of my pieces that just sit in the safe in favor of shooting more often the few that I perform best with. I'm also trying to simplify as much as possible other aspects of my life, less really is more.
Except for ammo. :p

wish I could find a nice 4513 to rent........or a sig P245 .....or maybe both...ya know.....since I am only renting;)..........................all joking aside you make a lot of sense;)
